Knicks Rumors: Grant Hill Is Terrible Choice for Shooting Guard
The New York Knicks have a hole at shooting guard that they need to fill with someone who has experience in this league.
Landry Fields is a solid two, but he showed he isn’t fit to be a regular starter in this league quite yet, and would be better served coming off the bench for at least one season.
Grant Hill is one name being thrown around as an option for the Knicks to start, but it’s not a good fit for the player or the team.
The New York Post is reporting that the veteran swingman is leaning towards New York but would have to uproot his family from their cozy Scottsdale living and head east, which is definitely weighing in his decision.
Hill is also a key piece to the Phoenix Suns, and the team is going to try their hardest to keep him in the desert.
It’s in his best interest to stay because of the miracles their training staff has been able to work over the years.
Hill was barely able to play during the prime of his career because of a multitude of injuries that limited him to just 200 games during a six-season stretch with Orlando.
In contrast, he’s seen action in 313 games during his four-year stint with the Suns, including playing in at least 80 games each of the past three years.
The Suns are known for being able to keep injury-prone players on the court, and Hill has experienced a career revival because of them. He owes it to them to stay and the front office will make sure they offer him the best possible deal to make it happen.
Phoenix also allows for him to play his natural position, small forward, which the Knicks have occupied by superstar Carmelo Anthony. He would be relegated to SG, and that is something he hasn’t played often and may not be a fit for.
New York will address their hole at the two this offseason, but they need to look for a younger and more natural fit at the position to compliment Melo and Amar’e Stoudemire.
