NFL Power Rankings: Predicting Which Teams Will Continue Rising

Chris TrapassoDec 7, 2011

The Green Bay Packers have essentially been on top of nearly all NFL power rankings this season, but what about those teams that have been steadily climbing?

Which of these hot teams will continue rising after Week 14's action?

New York Jets

The Jets were seemingly out of playoff contention following their loss to the Denver Broncos on Thursday night a few weeks ago.

However, they've won two consecutive games and are one of nine teams currently sitting at 7-5 with a definite chance at the postseason.

Although he's been the subject of some harsh criticism this year, Mark Sanchez has thrown five touchdowns to only one interception in the team's most recent victories and gets the Chiefs at home this week.

Kansas City has a solid secondary, but their offense is no match for New York's stingy run defense and premier secondary.

Things will be extremely interesting throughout the final three weeks in the Big Apple as the Jets go to 8-5 this weekend.

Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers have won seven of their last eight and are fresh off a beatdown of the division rival Bengals in Week 13.

It was a complete team effort in the 35-7 victory.

With the defense slowly returning to full strength, this team has to be one of the most frightening playoff contenders around.

This week, they get the Browns at home in prime time on Thursday night.

Expect disaster for Cleveland and their anemic offense that's scoring only 14.6 points per game.

It won't be easy to overtake the Ravens for the AFC North lead, but the Steelers will move to 10-3 this week.

San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers wrapped up the NFC West last week, but that doesn't mean they're going to ease up down the stretch.

They will have no Patrick Willis when they travel to Arizona in Week 14, but that won't matter.

If Beanie Wells doesn't have a big day, the Cardinals have a hard time consistently moving the ball.

Have fun against the league's best run defense.

Frank Gore should have yet another huge game against a Cardinals defense that's surrendering nearly 120 yards on the ground per game.

Look for San Fran to go 11-2.

14-2 is certainly not out of the question.
