Week 14 Waiver Wire: Maurice Morris and More Perfect Fantasy Playoff Flex Plays

Tim DanielsDec 7, 2011

Week 14 marks the beginning of the fantasy football playoffs in most leagues. That adds another layer of pressure on owners as they try to make perfect additions from the free agent market. To aid in that quest, here are three widely available players who would slide nicely into the flex spot.

RB Maurice Morris – Detroit Lions

Since Kevin Smith's ankle is seemingly made of glass, Morris should be in line for 15 or more touches once again this week. In Detroit's offense, that's more than enough to make a fantasy impact. He's scored 23 points over the last two weeks.

Morris is especially valuable in PPR leagues, having totaled at least five grabs in back-to-back outings. Matthew Stafford has proven that he likes to utilize underneath RB routes and with the Lions likely throwing early and often on Sunday, Morris should be universally owned and started.

Week 14 Projection: 13 fantasy points

RB Marion Barber – Chicago Bears

Barber will step into the starting running back role in Chicago after an injury to Matt Forte. The veteran has already been seeing close to double-digit carries on a weekly basis and has played the role of touchdown vulture on several occasions.

He should see an increased workload against a Denver Broncos defense which has allowed at least 10 fantasy points to opposing RBs for nine straight weeks. Barber isn't going to bust off any long runs, but he should power his way to a solid performance.

Week 14 Projection: 11 fantasy points

WR Damian Williams – Tennessee Titans

Williams has watched his target count increase in recent weeks and has scored at least six fantasy points in all but one game since Week 8. While that might not sound like a huge deal, it means the odds of him killing a team with a brutal performance are low.

Since the Titans will likely be playing from behind for most of the afternoon against the New Orleans Saints, Matt Hasselbeck should be looking Williams' way quite a bit, especially in the red zone. Add him with the expectation of a solid game, knowing there's the potential he posts monster numbers.
