NFL Week 14 Picks: 5 Games to Bet the House on

Alex KayDec 7, 2011

Week 14 is here and the playoffs are right around the corner, which makes these last few games carry quite a bit of weight for certain teams.

It also means these tight point spreads aren’t going to be reflected in the final score and the winners are usually going to be the team that wants the postseason more than their foe.

Let’s take a look at five matchups that should hit big for you this weekend if you play them right.

Houston Texans (+3) at Cincinnati Bengals

Vegas has no respect for T.J. Yates and he will continue to cash tickets behind the NFL’s No. 2 defense and No. 3 rushing attack.

The rookie QB has just got to manage the game and limit his turnovers, something he did just fine against the Falcons last week when he went 12-of-15 for 188 yards, a TD and no interceptions.

He’ll be making his first start on the road this week, but that doesn’t change that the team is still a lock, especially as underdogs, to cover this spread. Bet Houston moneyline and watch it win big.

New Orleans Saints (-3.5) at Tennessee Titans

The Saints are one of the most dominant teams in the league. The Titans? Well, they really aren’t that good.

I’m not sure why an elite team is giving only 3.5 to a group that has barely been hanging on for wins against subpar opponents.

However, I do know that I’ll take those odds.

New England Patriots (-8) at Washington Redskins

The Patriots are rolling right now and will decimate the Redskins on Sunday.

Washington’s season is completely over and it has no chance of making the playoffs.

Tom Brady and his offense are going to take the life out of this team for good this week.

Carolina Panthers (+3) vs. Atlanta Falcons

The Falcons are collapsing, especially after that loss last week to the Texans.

Carolina has nothing to play for and is feeling especially loose these last few weeks as it tries to build excitement for next year and play spoiler to its opponents’ playoff dreams.

Take the points with the home team here and watch for the upset.

San Francisco 49ers (-4) at Arizona Cardinals

Are you kidding?

This is the lock of the week because the 49ers are going to smear the Cardinals up and down the field in Glendale this week.

There is no chance the Cards pull out some crazy overtime upset this week and knock off the Niners, so lay the points and watch the Niners win by at least two touchdowns.
