2011 PPR Fantasy Football Week 14: Flex-Play Rankings and Projections

Sean E. DouglasDec 6, 2011

Miles Austin, Laurent Robinson vs. Giants

The Cowboys expect Miles Austin to return this week barring a setback in practice, and that’s bad news for Laurent Robinson fantasy owners. Robinson and Austin are worth using as WR-3 plays, but I’m a little concerned about both heading into this game.

On one hand, you have Robinson who's been a great surprise this season, but a shoulder injury slowed his performance down to a crawl against the Cardinals. Now with reduced snaps, he’s unlikely to pick up more than 50 yards and maybe a touchdown.

As for Austin, the last time he returned from his hamstring injury he failed to be effective for a couple of weeks. Where both receivers become worth starting this week is because the Cowboys will be playing an all-important game as the Giants come to town. This should be a high-scoring game where both Tony Romo and Eli Manning throw for more than 350 yards and at least a couple touchdowns. Get these guys in your lineup, if anything for the matchup.

Steven Jackson @ Seahawks

It appears the Vikings have a chance to turn things around for the future with Christian Ponder and Percy Harvin, and I hope that is the case because it would be a shame to see Adrian Peterson suffer the same fate that Steven Jackson has had to endure. The Rams had expectations to contend for the division title, but instead they are arguably the worst team in football at this time.

Seattle shut Jackson down a few weeks ago, and fantasy owners should look to other options for a flex play this week. If you're desperate, go ahead and put Jackson in the lineup, because at the end of the day, at least he’s a feature back in the NFL, and that’s worth something.
