WWE TLC 2011 Preview: A Look at the New Matches Added After Last Night's Raw

The Doctor Chris MuellerDec 6, 2011

Last night on Raw, we were given three new matches to add to this years Tables Ladders and Chairs PPV.

The WWE title is now being contended in a triple threat TLC match between current champions CM Punk and former champions The Miz and Alberto Del Rio.

Last night on Raw, the interim GM made three matches which would determine the participants of the WWE title match.

The Miz got a win over Randy Orton to secure his spot in the title match, but he got the win after a distraction by Wade Barrett gave Miz the chance he needed to take advantage of Orton.

The great thing about what has been going on between Wade Barrett and Randy Orton is that it has allowed Orton to put over several superstars with wins without appearing weak because Barrett is usually there to provide some kind of distraction.

Alberto Del Rio was given an injured Daniel Bryan to face for his spot in the TLC match, and, of course, he got the win after exploiting Bryan's injured ribs.

John Cena was given a shot to be in the WWE title match by facing off against his friend and recent protege Zack Ryder.

Both Cena and Ryder were upset about this move by Funkman, but they put their game faces on in what I feel was a great match.

In the end, Cena got the victory, but when given a chance to vacate his spot in order to give Ryder one more chance at a US title shot, he chose to give his friend the opportunity the guys in the office never did.

Ryder had to face World Champion Mark Henry in a no-DQ match, which ended up working to Ryder's advantage after Cena was able to come out and deliver an AA to Henry.

With the participants in the WWE title match now decided, we can take a look at the possible outcomes of the match.

Both Miz and Alberto Del Rio have a chance to reclaim the title, which has been in their grasp before, but CM Punk is on a roll and won't go down easily.

With Punk having great ladder matches under his belt, I have a feeling that he, Miz and Del Rio may pull out the best match on the TLC card.

In the end, if WWE wants Punk to continue gaining popularity, then they need to keep the title on him and extend his feuds with Miz and Del Rio through to the next year.

As I also mentioned before, Ryder earned his shot at Ziggler's US title. WWE.com still does not list a specific stipulation for this match as of this morning.

Ryder has had a couple shots in the past, so this could be his last shot at gaining the title which has been eluding him for months.

Last night, Del Rio made his case for why he deserves a WWE title match, and it is hard to disagree with the longest reigning champion in WWE right now.

WWE could be looking to continue Ryder's meteoric rise by giving him the US title while simultaneously transitioning Ziggler into the WWE title picture.

This match has the potential to be the match of the night as well, and if WWE decides to add a stipulation, then it could get even more interesting.

If WWE does end up making this some kind of no-DQ match, then we could end up seeing Cena make his presence felt in this match as well.

The third match, which was revealed during last night's show, was a ladder match between bitter rivals Kevin Nash and Triple H.

The stipulation for this match is unique, as there is no title which can be hung from the rafters. Instead, a sledgehammer will be hung high above, which can be used once brought down by one of the two competitors.

I am still a little confused as to how either man will win this match. Do they only get to pin the other man after the sledgehammer is pulled down, or will it be more like a last man standing match where it is until one man cannot continue?

Either way, I think WWE made the right move in making this a ladder match. Neither man is in the best shape of their life, and this stipulation will make it so they don't have to do as much actual wrestling.

With neither man being a full time competitor, it is hard to say who would benefit more from a win at this point—which may be why this match will be interesting.

However it ends up turning out, the fact remains that neither man needs a win for a push.

One possibility is that if WWE continues to hold off on bringing in Clay, he could come out and attack both men and then deliver a promo about how he is the future and is here to take out the past.

These three matches are in addition to the world title match between Big Show and Mark Henry. This is one more in the long list of matches between the two behemoths, and it could be Show's last chance to win the title he first held when he was 23 years old.

Who do you think will win the matches set for this years TLC PPV event?
