NFL Power Rankings: Where the Experts Ranked the Chicago Bears

Wes ODonnellDec 6, 2011

We're running out of weeks to keep ranking NFL teams. Each and every week more and more teams solidify themselves into certain brackets and this week is no different.

One of the more intriguing teams to rank is the Chicago Bears.

The defending NFC North champions weren't going to catch the Green Bay Packers in the division this year, but they were sitting pretty for a wild card berth before the injury to Jay Cutler.

On top of that, they've lost star running back Matt Forte in the midst of their two-game losing streak and things don't look promising.

Here's a look at where the "experts" ranked the Chicago Bears this week.

ESPN: No. 17

"

Lovie Smith wants to stand pat with Caleb Hanie and Josh McCown at QB. Suddenly, the Bears' playoff run is being intercepted.

"
"

Caleb Hanie isn't the answer and now they will have to try and make a playoff push without Matt Forte. Good luck.

"
"

In explaining the decision to not sign another quarterback, Lovie Smith said Caleb Hanie will get better. Hanie surely can’t get much worse.

"

All explanations have to do with the Bears not making a move for a quarterback and each ranking system would have the Bears outside of the playoffs right now.

The only one of the three expert sites to offer anything positive was PFT and that backhanded positivity said that Hanie "can't get much worse."

The Bears are in a world of hurt, literally, and their power ranking in the top half of the league is hanging on by a thread.
