NFL Power Rankings Week 14: Looking at Teams with the Most Momentum

Ryan PhillipsDec 6, 2011

Two teams with wildly different quarterback situations currently have the most momentum of anyone in the NFL. One squad, the Denver Broncos, has been a complete surprise, while the other, the Green Bay Packers, has continued where it left off last season.

Denver Broncos

Whether or not you buy into Tim Tebow as a legit NFL quarterback you can't argue with his record so far. Since Tebow took over for Kyle Orton as the team's starting quarterback in Week 7, the Broncos are 6-1.

While Tebow's numbers haven't been overwhelming, the team has found a way to win with him under center.

After slipping by the Minnesota Vikings 35-32 on Sunday, Denver has won five in a row and at 7-5 the Broncos are tied with the Oakland Raiders atop the AFC West.

Let me be clear, I do not believe Tebow is a great quarterback. In fact, there are about 15 other guys I'd take in front of him if I had to pick a guy to start for my team.

That said, he has earned results. Whether that's due to the rest of the offense or the team's defense, it doesn't really matter.

Whatever the Broncos are doing is working, and they have come out of nowhere to become the league's second-hottest team right now.

Green Bay Packers

Think the Green Bay Packers are hot? They have now won 18 straight games dating back to last season, and at 12-0 have all but wrapped up home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers is having what might be the best season for a passer in NFL history.

Through 12 games the 28-year-old has completed 288 of 408 passes for 3,844 yards, with a league-high 37 touchdowns and just five interceptions. Rodgers also leads the league in completion percentage (70.6), yards per attempt (9.42) and his quarterback rating of 125.3 is a ridiculous 19.4 points higher than the man second place, Tom Brady.

The Packers are the hottest team in the league and may have the hottest player in NFL history. It's safe to say they have an insane level of momentum heading into the season's final four weeks.
