NFL Power Rankings: Looking at Teams Losing the Most Ground

Zach KruseDec 6, 2011

The following teams are losing the most ground in our Week 14 NFL power rankings:

Chicago Bears (7-5)

Could Sunday have gone any worse for the Bears? They scored three points, allowed a Hail Mary touchdown and lost their starting running back for 2-to-6 weeks. You get the feeling that if any of the three 7-5 teams (Bears, Lions, Falcons) misses the playoffs, it'll be the Bears.

Detroit Lions (7-5)

This team just continues to self-destruct. Winning games in the NFL is hard enough—and the Lions know that first hand—to let your own stupid actions help you get beat. Luckily for the Lions, the season hasn't been lost yet. They are still mostly healthy and the Bears look like they could fall off the map with their best two players out. The immature, selfish penalties have to stop.

Oakland Raiders (7-5)

Heading to Miami was always going to be tough for the Raiders, but losing by 20 and getting man-handled is never a good sign for a team fighting to win their division. The loss dropped the Raiders out of first place in the AFC West and if the season ended today, the Raiders wouldn't even be in line for a wild-card spot. A game against the Packers at Lambeau this week won't be any easier.

New York Giants (6-6)

It's hard to fault the Giants for falling by three to the undefeated Packers, but the fact remains that this team has lost four straight games. A loss to the Cowboys this week in Dallas will all but end their season. Can the Giants use how well they played against the Packers last week as a building block for their final four games?
