NFL Power Rankings: Which Teams Have the Most to Gain in Week 14?

Tim DanielsDec 6, 2011

There is no shortage of teams fighting for playoff spots, which means every game down the stretch is vitally important. While nearly every Week 14 clash has some type of postseason implications, here are three teams with the most to gain.

1. Cincinnati Bengals

Even though the Bengals have yet to pick up a marquee win, they continue to take care of business against inferior teams. Based on their remaining schedule and the numbers of teams they're battling, they will need to beat either the Texans or Ravens to earn a berth.

Houston is up first and its a team that continues to win despite numerous injuries, include one to star quarterback Matt Schaub and his backup Matt Leinart. The Texans play really strong defense and let Arian Foster do the rest, it will be up to Andy Dalton and Co. to disrupt that rhythm.

2. Denver Broncos

Denver has undergone a resurgence since Tim Tebow took over as the starting quarterback during the team's bye week. He shouldn't be given all of the credit for righting the ship, but he's certainly played a major role.

Von Miller has been the Tebow of the defense. It's a unit that has stepped up in a big way to give the offense a chance to win games in the fourth quarter. But they can't overlook the Chicago Bears even without Jay Cutler and Matt Forte.

3. New York Giants

Sunday night's encounter between the Giants and Dallas Cowboys is huge for both teams, but since Dallas is the home team, New York has more to gain. After losing four straight games, a win would put them back in control of their own destiny.

The lack of a running game has forced Eli Manning to throw too much. Everybody knows that will eventually lead to mistakes, and it has with Manning throwing at least on interception in five straight games. Generating a more balanced attack is the only chance the Giants have of turning it around.
