WWE Rumors: John Cena, CM Punk and Tuesday's Top WWE News

Adam WellsDec 6, 2011

After two solid shows, Raw was back to its usual, terrible self this week with so much lame booking and terrible finishes that are leading to matches at the TLC pay-per-view that no one will care about at all.

WWE has a habit of doing these kinds of lame finishes that don't get anyone over, and when the buy rates for their shows suck, Vince McMahon can't seem to figure out what the problem is.

We will have plenty to talk about, including thoughts on CM Punk's direction, John Cena being Zack Ryder's BFF, and all the other news that is fit to print. So keep reading, and if you have an opinion you want to get out, don't be afraid to speak.

WWE BURIES TLC PAY-PER-VIEW

Instead of only burying the talent on Raw, WWE decided that it doesn't care about the pay-per-view on December 18 and just throws a bunch of matches together with no kind of coherent storyline or logic behind them. Basically, it's Vince McMahon's way of telling you to keep $45 for Christmas presents.

Question on Everybody's Mind: Does WWE know how to make money anymore?

Our Take: There was a time when I thought that Vinny Mac would never lose his touch as a money maker, but he does not care about whether fans care about WWE at all. He just wants to do things that he thinks are funny but serve no purpose in order to build a show.

Hype Meter: 2 out of 5 Broken Ladders

If you are excited for the TLC show at this point, you probably didn't watch Raw, or you just don't care about the booking leading up to a pay-per-view.

CM PUNK DEFENDING WWE TITLE AGAINST TWO LOSERS

As if CM Punk didn't have enough problems, what with becoming John Cena 2.0, he gets to defend the WWE title at the TLC pay-per-view in a triple threat Tables, Ladders and Chairs match against The Miz, who won his match against Randy Orton with a lame countout, and Alberto Del Rio, who just got beat clean by Punk twice in a two-week period.

Question on Everybody's Mind: Remember when CM Punk was going to make wrestling fun again?

Our Take: Wasn't that a great time? It lasted for all of four weeks, but it did give us hope that something amazing would happen. To be fair, it did give us the awesome Money In the Bank show, but now all hope is lost once again.

Hype Meter: 3 out of 5 Miz Faux Hawk's

Even though the match is not being built up well, at least it should be entertaining. I wouldn't pay $45 to see something I don't care about, but I would be shocked if Punk, Miz and Del Rio aren't able to have a fun TLC match.

KEVIN NASH GETS TO WRESTLE WITH A LADDER

Speaking of terrible feuds that really need no resolution but will have one because of the two superstars involved, Kevin Nash and Triple will, in fact, duke it out at TLC in a ladder match with a sledgehammer hanging over the ring.

Question on Everybody's Mind: Will Kevin Nash even be able to climb one rung on a ladder?

Our Take: Nash can barely walk as it is, so watching him climb a ladder to try and retrieve a hammer hanging about the ring is going to be high comedy. At least this terrible feud can finally end, and we never have to see Nash wrestle on pay-per-view again.

Hype Meter: 2 out of 5 Epic Kevin Nash-David Otunga Promos

I want to meet the member of the creative team who actually said "You know what would be great? Kevin Nash and Triple H in a ladder match with a hammer as the prize above the ring!" As long as they keep it short, it shouldn't be the worst match on a WWE show this year.

JOHN CENA TRIES TO MAKE PEOPLE LIKE HIM BY HELPING ZACK RYDER

In keeping with the weekly tradition of trying to do whatever it takes to make people cheer him, WWE decided that using John Cena as Zack Ryder's lackey would be great. It worked to a point, but it did nothing to help the Internet Champion get over because Cena had to beat Mark Henry for Ryder.

Question on Everybody's Mind: Why does WWE hate Zack Ryder?

Our Take: Simply put, he is not a WWE creation. He got over because of his YouTube show and that does not sit well with Vince McMahon. If he doesn't make you, he doesn't care about you one bit. That's why it took so long to get him a U.S. title match, and why he looked like a dork having someone else fighting his battle for him.

Hype Meter: 3 out of 5 Pandering Cena Promos

I will say that I am happy that Ryder and Dolph Ziggler, who I openly applauded when he said he deserved a WWE title shot, are finally squaring off. The only problem is that it is happening one month too late.

ANOTHER WEIRD PROMO AIRS ABOUT NO ONE IN PARTICULAR

Three weeks ago we were all debating who the mysterious "It Begins" promos were for. The common consensus hasn't changed -- it's either Chris Jericho or The Undertaker. The more that we have heard, though, the more we have found out that WWE has no plan for the video. The company hopes it's for Jericho, but he is not under contract with them.

Question on Everybody's Mind: Can WWE actually set up a story with a concrete beginning, middle and end?

Our Take: No. The Powers That Be are hoping beyond hope that they can finish a deal with Jericho so that they don't have to use The Undertaker too early. But this is just another sign that WWE has no idea how to conduct business today.

Hype Meter: 4 out of 5 Little Damien Kids Running Around Empty Schools

I went from being intrigued by these videos to annoyed over the span of three weeks. Maybe it is more frustration with WWE, but I am at a point now where I don't care about anything these people do. They have killed my wrestling spirit, and so close to the holidays.

WWE makes my head hurt, so I am going to take some aspirin and figure out how the Slammy Awards show next week will be screwed up.
