Fantasy Football Week 14: Who's Hot, Who's Not Among QBs?
It is Week 14 already, and most fantasy football leagues are starting their playoff matchups this week. The QB is one of the best positions to get some extra points if you know who is hot and who is not.
For instance, Christian Ponder of the Minnesota Vikings has been brilliant for the Vikings and could possibly be the next upcoming QB who can help in fantasy football.
So make sure to snag some of these QBs for Week 14, if they are still available, before someone else does.
Who's Hot: Christian Ponder
1 of 10Christian Ponder just let the ball fly from his hands in last week's matchup against the Denver Broncos. It was him against the now 6-1 Tim Tebow, and Ponder absolutely outperformed Tebow.
Ponder totaled 381 passing yards and completed 29 of 47 pass attempts. He also threw three touchdowns, but threw two interceptions as well.
If he is still available in your league, then you should go pick him up for Week 14.
Who's Not: Matt Ryan
2 of 10The Atlanta Falcons lost to the Houston Texans, 17-10, and it was mainly due to the fact that Matt Ryan had a poor outing.
Ryan only had 267 passing yards and one touchdown pass. He went 20-of-47 passing and also threw two picks in the loss.
Ryan needs to step it up over the last four weeks of the regular season if he hopes to make the playoffs this season.
Who's Hot: Cam Newton
3 of 10Let's all just face it: Cam Newton is an animal on the offensive side of the ball. He tallied 37 fantasy football points and was the best QB in Week 13.
Newton may have only thrown for 204 yards and one score, but what really helps him out is when he can rush for 54 yards and three touchdowns.
Newton's production in the running game is what makes him special, and he now has 13 rushing touchdowns on the season.
Who's Not: Matt Hasselbeck
4 of 10Matt Hasselbeck did barely anything against the Buffalo Bills in the Tennessee Titans' 23-17 win. It was all Chris Johnson and the running attack.
Hasselbeck threw for a total of 140 yards with zero touchdowns. The only good thing that came out of this outing was that he did not turn the ball over, but having only five total fantasy point won't help your team win a playoff matchup.
Who's Hot: Philip Rivers
5 of 10Philip Rivers finally had a breakthrough game in the 38-14 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Rivers threw for 294 yards and three touchdown passes in that big win for the San Diego Chargers.
The Chargers face the Bills next week and Rivers should continue his dominance against a poor defense.
Who's Not: Mark Sanchez
6 of 10The New York Jets may have won 34-19 over the Washington Redskins, but Mark Sanchez had little to do with that.
Sanchez only had 165 yards and one touchdown in this contest, and he has been very inconsistent to start in any fantasy football league. Don't even think about starting Sanchez in the playoffs.
Who's Hot: Drew Brees
7 of 10Drew Brees is the go-to guy for the New Orleans Saints and has shown over the past couple of weeks that he can dominant most defenses.
Against the Detroit Lions, Brees finished with 342 yards, three touchdowns and zero interceptions.
Brees faces easy defenses down the stretch, so expect him to put up some good numbers in Week 14 and beyond.
Who's Not: Rex Grossman
8 of 10Rex Grossman did not have a good game against the Jets last week and only finished with 221 yards. He turned the ball over twice: one fumble and one interception.
It is this kind of play from the quarterback position that makes the Washington Redskins such a bad team in 2011.
Who's Hot: Dan Orlovsky
9 of 10Dan Orlovsky outplayed Tom Brady in the Indianapolis Colts' matchup against the New England Patriots in Week 13. He came up just short in the 31-24 loss to the Patriots.
Orlovsky finished with 353 passing yards and a couple touchdowns. He completed 30 of 37 passes and only threw one pick. If you have trouble at the quarterback position, then look towards Orlovsky to right your ship.
Who's Not: Joe Flacco
10 of 10Joe Flacco was unnecessary as Ray Rice totaled 204 yards and a touchdown in the 24-10 beating over the Cleveland Browns.
Flacco has been dreadful in 2011 and continued his lackluster performance with only 158 yards on 10-of-23 passing. He also fumbled the ball in last week's game. Don't expect anything big from Flacco anytime soon.
