7 Ways Tim Tebow Will Impact the NFL Moving Forward

David LevinDec 6, 2011

He just wins. I know I have said that before, but it's the gospel.

Tim Tebow is redefining the role of the NFL quarterback. And we as fans and writers are watching it unfold before our eyes.

Let the new line of quarterback take hold of the NFL.

While Tebow's style is not one I can see lasting for years and may go way of the "Wildcat" offense, it's still something to watch.

He plays sandlot football on the nation's greatest stage.

You cannot script these kinds of things in real life. They just happen.

And while the Broncos are 6-1 since Tebow became the starter, there are a lot more teams thinking they can alter the course of the development of the passer as long as the Florida grad is a success.

This is what Tebow does for the NFL as it moves forward.

He Affects the NFL Draft

1 of 8

He was taken in the first round, probably a round or two higher than he should have been selected.

He did not have the rocket arm or size scouts wanted. But he had intangibles scouts loved and his skill set means other "tweener" passers like Houston's Case Keenum and Boise States' Kellen Moore get a long look in early rounds.

He Makes Robert Griffin III Look Like a Better Prospect

2 of 8

Baylor's Griffin really came on this season and has a better arm than Tebow and more athleticism.

That should help RGIII get into the first round of the draft.

He Proves You Don't Need a Prototypical Passer To Win Games

3 of 8

He isn't "quarterback" material in the eyes of those in the known.

He dispels every myth there is about how big or strong or accurate a passer must be.

He's One of the Most Inspriational Leaders in the NFL

4 of 8

Take away everything, and Denver got a good player and a model citizen.

He's everything moms want for their daughters and everything a father wants his son to be.

Tebow is Wally Cleaver in an athlete's body.

He says the right things, and he does the right things.

He Keeps Defensive Coordinators Awake at Night

5 of 8

Yes, Tebow puts fear in defenses.

Teams have not figured him out yet, and that's a dangerous thing.

Until coordinators figure him out, he will confuse the crap out of opponents.

He's a Good Practice Player and Works Hard To Play Hard

6 of 8

The true superstars do this.

Tebow is a rock star, but he's also great for team unity and leadership.

He infuses energy, and his winning is infectious.

The NFL needs more players like him.

His Success Makes the Jaguars Look Foolish

7 of 8

He's loved in the Jacksonville market like he's the second coming of Lombardi.

Tebow may not be the best at his position, but he would do something for his hometown that other players cannot do—sell tickets.

The Jaguars have begged businesses to buy tickets to avoid blackouts this season.

Tebow would have cured that.

He Moves NFL Merchandise

8 of 8

The NFL works on the premise of selling fans teams over players.

Tebow sells jerseys and other merchandise. He's a great marketing tool.

He makes the NFL money.
