Week 14 Fantasy Rankings: Running Back Rankings, Projections

Chris Johnson vs. Saints

Hopefully, you showed patience in Chris Johnson and didn’t trade him away earlier in the season, because he’s clearly back to being the player we remembered from years ago. Many of you that drafted Johnson have likely had a hard road to the playoffs, but if you’ve survived this long, you’re in position to do some damage.

With Johnson showing his old burst in the secondary and the offensive line run-blocking better, it was only a matter of time before we saw one of his trademark long touchdown runs. And finally, against the Bills, it came. Not only has Johnson’s speed come back, but it appears he’s more decisive, making quick shifty moves to find open spaces.

The Saints should win in Tennessee this week, but expect Johnson to run for more than 100 yards and pile up a couple of scores against a defense that has struggled to stop big plays through the air and on the ground.

C.J. Spiller @ Chargers

If not for a hold by Corey McIntyre late in the first quarter, C.J. Spiller would’ve had two touchdowns of more than 30 yards against the Titans last week. Instead, Spiller total just over 80 yards on the ground with the lone score as the Bills struggled to throw the football in the second half to sustain drives.

With Spiller tabbed as the feature back in Buffalo, fantasy owners need to use him as at least a flex play and even a RB-2 going forward. This week Buffalo heads out to San Diego, and Spiller will face a Chargers defense that struggles to make adjustments as the game progresses and can be had against a big-play slash back.

Spiller will never be a great runner inside the tackles, but he clearly looked better in his second game as a starter and I suspect he will improve from week to week with all the valuable playing time he’s getting, so expect good things from Spiller to close out the season.
