Fiesta Bowl 2012: 5 Bold Game Predictions

Bradlee RossDec 5, 2011

Oklahoma State is Fiesta Bowl-bound and loving it.

The Cowboys will face the Stanford Cardinal on Jan. 2 in Glendale, Arizona to compete for a Fiesta Bowl victory.

It will be the second-biggest game of the bowl season behind the national championship, pitting the No. 3 and No. 4 teams against one another.

Here are five very bold predictions for the game.

Brandon Weeden Throws 5 Touchdown Passes

1 of 5

This game will be Brandon Weeden's last attempt as a college football player to show NFL teams why they should take a chance on him, despite his age.

He'll capitalize on it.

Weeden will spread the ball around to his multitude of capable receivers, leading the Cowboys to a big win.

Andrew Luck Throws 2 Interceptions

2 of 5

Andrew Luck is one of the most efficient quarterbacks in the country.

The Oklahoma State defense is the best turnover-producing unit in the nation.

Two powerful forces will meet Jan. 2 in that particular matchup, and Oklahoma State's defense will win.

The Cowboys will frustrate Luck with key blitzes and very strong secondary play. Much like Landry Jones, Luck will be unable to produce his usual eye-popping numbers.

Quinn Sharp Pins the Cardinal Deep with Every Punt

3 of 5

Quinn Sharp is the best punter in the country. He leads the nation in average yards per punt and is also the Cowboys' field-goal kicker.

Sharp will have a tremendous day against Stanford. He'll pin the Cardinal behind their own 20-yard line every time he punts the ball.

He'll be a big reason the Cowboys come away with a victory.

The Race for Luck Is Mentioned at Least 5 Times During the Game

4 of 5

It's no secret now that there are many NFL teams hoping to continue losing in order to get Andrew Luck in next year's NFL draft.

However, the game commentators won't realize that. They'll talk about it like it's breaking news, mentioning it at least five times from the start of the telecast to the end of it.

We'll all be sick of hearing it.

Mike Gundy's Rant/Dance Are Mentioned at Least 4 Times

5 of 5

Mike Gundy has proven himself to be one of the best head coaches in college football. But there are some things he won't ever live down.

Two things to be exact.

The first is his rant from 2007, in which he defended a player from a newspaper article he deemed unfair and irresponsible. He's a man and he's 44.

The second thing is his dancing. We first saw it after their big comeback win on the road against Texas A&M and again after the Cowboys' big win this past weekend against Oklahoma.

Both of those will be talked about more than OSU's great season this year. They are still pretty entertaining, though.
