WWE Opinion: New Stars Have Entered the Scene, Now Let's Continue the Trend.

Justin EldridgeDec 5, 2011

A couple of months ago, I wrote an article about the WWE's misuse of undercard talent.

WWE has one of the deepest talent pools in all of professional wrestling if not the deepest, so why weren't they using and showcasing this talent?

I think it is safe to say that we will never really know the full reasoning behind it, other than they seemed to prefer the familiar in the WWE. At times, just when it seemed they were about to bring a new star into the upper mid card or main event scene, ratings would drop a bit, and they would go back to what was working before.

The issue with that is fans got tired of seeing the same old thing day in, day out. WWE was throwing people into our faces that we had no reason to care about, instead of giving them a slow build so that when the did get elevated, we cared.

With the recent influx of new stars in the title pictures, it seems that WWE is finally trying to establish new stars. CM Punk, Dolph Ziggler, Sheamus, Cody Rhodes, Zack Ryder, The Miz and so on. They have even given long tenured stars their just due in the form of Mark Henry and Christian. And before you start the whole "But Christian got screwed", I will say that I don't think we have seen him hold the title for the last time. He has been a figure in the title scene for some time, and his injury is the only reason he was taken out of it.

So yes, the WWE has created some more stars that we care about. But why stop there? There is a huge array of stars whose talents are being squandered by not giving them much time, if any at all on TV. These guys and girls have been relegated to appearing in matches on NXT and Superstars, which not that many people watch.

Even though they get some time on TV, the entire Divas division could use some more attention. Tamina is nowhere to be seen, Beth and Nattie are stuck in limbo, relegated to jogging around the ring during the obligatory one minute long Diva match. I'm pretty sure that these women would like to be treated as more than just eye candy and  a bathroom break.

This whole "Divas of Doom" storyline is non-existent. There has been no furthering whatsoever of the story. Is Beth in a holding pattern until Kong gets back? Give them more.

On the side of the guys, there are so many wasted talents being left off of the main rosters of Raw and SmackDown. Drew McIntyre, Tyson Kidd, Tyler Reks, Curt Hawkins, Trent Barreta, Yoshi Tatsu, Alex Riley, Joe Hennig (I refuse to use the McGillicutty name) and The Uso's. Many fans may not think that these guys have much to offer, but take some time to YouTube them or watch Superstars online. I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

Sure, some of them may need to work on their mic skills a bit, and some need to polish up in the ring, but have them face more than just each other. Bring them up into the mid card. Let them have a shot at moving up the ladder.

I'm sure many guys would love to help get them over, they just need the opportunity.

I do commend the WWE for the strives they have made of late in allowing new talent to rise above where they were previously.

You still have a ton of untapped resources WWE, and it would be a shame to waste them.
