Tim Tebow: Why Denver QB Is Legit Candidate for NFL MVP Award
Tim Tebow has taken this NFL season by storm, becoming the most valuable player to his team. It’s why, after only seven games as an NFL starter, Tebow has to be considered among the candidates for this year’s MVP award.
For those of you who have not gotten on the Tebow bandwagon, what’s wrong with you? He has taken over the NFL, not only as the league’s most popular player, but as someone that you have to sit and watch for the entire game.
Is Tebow one of the best players in the NFL through a statistical perspective? No.

However, through seven games, Tebow is 6-1, has 10 touchdowns to one interception and has five games where his quarterback passer rating is 91 or above. He has taken this Broncos team from obscurity, as one of the worst teams in the NFL, to a division leader.
The MVP award is supposed to go to the person that is the most valuable to his team, not to the person who had the best statical performance over the year.
It’s hard to picture the Patriots without Tom Brady, the Saints without Drew Brees or the Packers without Aaron Rodgers. We don’t know how these teams would do this year without these great quarterbacks.
However, we know exactly how the Broncos performed without Tebow. They were awful.
With Kyle Orton, the Broncos struggled to open the season, starting 1-4. The team lacked leadership with Orton, and it showed when Tebow came in to replace Orton during the third quarter of the San Diego game in Week 5.
In that game, the Broncos were down 26-10, when Tebow rallied the team to a touchdown and two-point conversion to cut the lead to 26-18. With 4:38 left, Tebow led the Broncos to another touchdown, to bring the Broncos down 26-24.
The Broncos wound up losing that game after a Chargers field goal from Nick Novak and a failed final drive by Tebow. However, that was the only failed fourth-quarter come-from-behind attempt that Tebow has fallen to.
Since that Chargers game, Tebow has led the Broncos to four comeback victories, with three of those comebacks in the Broncos' final drive of the fourth quarter.
Without Tebow, this Broncos team is nowhere near the playoff picture, let alone the division lead. With Tebow, the Broncos are a favorite to win the AFC West Division and host a playoff game this year.
Tebow has proven his worth to the Broncos, and it’s time for the NFL to recognize that by putting him among the NFL's Most Valuable Players.
