NFL Power Rankings: Gauging Which Teams Are Moving Most

Chris TrapassoDec 5, 2011

There wasn't a ton of upward movement this week, especially atop the NFL. The Packers, Patriots, Saints and 49ers won and the majority of the "second tier" disappointed.

Which teams are moving most in Week 14's power rankings?

New Orleans Saints

I moved the Saints into the No. 2 spot from the No. 3 spot mainly because of the way in which Drew Brees is operating his offense right now and their opportunistic defense.

Surgical.

They have two road games upcoming, but end the year at home against the Falcons and Panthers. A 12-4 record is a definite possibility.

New York Jets

Yes, I've been down on the Jets of late, mainly because of Mark Sanchez's poor play. But they handled their business against the Redskins and hopped from the No. 15 spot to No. 13.

They get the Chiefs next week, end with the Dolphins and have two games against NFC East teams (Philadelphia and New York) sandwiched in between.

Making the playoffs won't be easy, but with more steady games from Sanchez, they could sneak in.

Fallers

Oakland Raiders

Where was the Raiders power-running game against Miami? Michael Bush had 18 yards on 10 carries. Weird.

Carson Palmer had a decent day, but if the rushing attack isn't keeping defenses honest, can he lead the team to victory?

I don't think so. That's not their identity.

They dropped to the No. 13 position after being No. 9 last week.

Chicago Bears

The Bears' current situation shows how quickly things can change in the NFL. Two weeks ago, they were one of the hottest teams in the NFC and could rightfully claim they were ready to make another conference championship game.

But they lost Jay Cutler, Matt Forte is out with a sprained MCL and they've lost consecutive contests.
