The Biggest Questions That Each UFC Champion Must Answer

Tim McTiernanDec 4, 2011

There is no UFC champion who has every question answered about him.

Every single champion has questions, and some have more than others.

Let's take a look at the biggest question that each UFC champion must answer.

Dominick Cruz

1 of 7

Is Dominick Cruz truly better than Urijah Faber?

Dominick Cruz' next fight will be his third meeting with Urijah Faber.

The first fight between these two took place in the WEC for Faber's featherweight title, and it ended with a first-round guillotine, and Faber getting his hand raised.

The second meeting was at UFC 132 with Cruz' bantamweight title on the line, and Cruz won a unanimous decision.

In the third meeting, Cruz will be looking to prove that he is really better than Faber.

Jose Aldo

When will Jose Aldo have to move up to lightweight?

Many people saw a now-infamous video of Jose Aldo cutting weight on the day of the weigh-ins for UFC 136.

Aldo has always been a big featherweight, but now as he is getting older, and has more muscle, the cut has become harder for him, and he has said he will have to move up to lightweight eventually.

At some point, the weight cut may become too much that Aldo will miss weight, or lose the fight due to being too drained out.

His next fight against Chad Mendes will be very telling.

Frankie Edgar

Will Frankie Edgar have to move down to featherweight?

Dana White has made it clear that he wants Frankie Edgar to fight at featherweight. However, as long as Edgar is winning fights at lightweight, he won't need to move down.

That begs the question, when will Edgar stop winning at lightweight?

Edgar could very easily make featherweight, and it would be safe to assume that should he lose his title, he may move down to the featherweight division.

Ben Henderson will face Edgar at UFC 144 in his toughest challenge yet.

Georges St-Pierre

Can Georges St-Pierre finish a fight?

Georges St-Pierre hasn't finished a fight since UFC 94, when he defeated BJ Penn via corner stoppage after the fourth round. However a direct stoppage from St-Pierre hasn't come since UFC 83, when he won his welterweight title back from Matt Serra.

Ever since his loss to Serra, GSP has played it safe, and seems to have simply lost the killer instinct he had in his early UFC days.

Every time he steps in the cage, fans always hope to see GSPPS, GSP Pre-Serra.

Anderson Silva

5 of 7

Can Anderson Silva prove that the first fight with Chael Sonnen was a fluke?

It's no secret what the biggest moneymaking fight for the UFC would be. Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen II would be the biggest fight in UFC history.

Sonnen would go into the fight looking to finish what he started, and Silva would go in looking to make an example of Sonnen.

He would be out there trying to prove that the 23 minutes of that fight that he lost were nothing but a fluke caused by injury.

Jon Jones

6 of 7

Can Jon Jones become as good as everyone thinks?

It is no secret that Jon Jones is looked at as the future of MMA and as someone who could become known as the greatest of all time.

His biggest question is simple: Is he really that good?

If he beats Lyoto Machida this Saturday, he'll take the next step to greatness.

Junior dos Santos

7 of 7

Will Junior dos Santos break the curse of the heavyweight title?

It has been said lately that the UFC heavyweight title may be cursed, as no fighter has been able to defend the title more than twice consecutively—ever.

Dos Santos has a number of fighters who will be gunning for his title, and should he defend his title two or three times, he will immediately become known as arguably the greatest UFC heavyweight ever.

Alistair Overeem, Brock Lesnar, Frank Mir and even Cain Velasquez will all be coming for that belt.
