2011 Bowl Games: Real-Time Bowl Matchup Tracker
It is time to clear out your schedule for bowl game awesomeness. The first of 35 bowl games will be on December 17th at 2 p.m. EST, and they won't stop the madness until the Championship Game is played on January 9th at 8 p.m. EST.
You can view the entire schedule below, and if you have a chunk of vacation time, and are loaded with true grit, you can watch them all.
More than likely you won't be able to view everyone. In that case, here are three match-ups that should be a blast to watch. This doesn't include the National Championship game, or any of the BCS bowl game because those match-ups will already get plenty of hype.
MAACO Las Vegas Bowl: Arizona State vs. Boise State on December 22nd at 8 p.m. EST
Boise State was robbed of a BCS bowl bid. For some teams, this would lead to them playing an uninspired bowl game. That won't happen to Boise State. This team is used to getting up for games that otherwise would be tough to be motivated for.
They also are just a very fun team to watch. They have a dynamic passing attack, and are never afraid to whip out a trick play or five.
For Arizona State, this will be Dennis Erickson's last game as coach. And it very well may be the last game of his career. Erickson is going to let it all fly in this one. If there was ever a trick play he wanted to run and hasn't, this is the game to do it.
Valero Alamo Bowl: Washington vs. Baylor on December 29th at 9 p.m.
This game is going to feature some amazing QB play, and those QBs are going to be playing against some poor defenses.
The Huskies are 99th in points allowed per game, and the Bears are 109th. These defenses will be in trouble in this game.
You probably know about Robert Griffin III. He has put together an amazing season, and will likely be one of the Heisman finalists.
You might not know about Washington's QB Keith Price. The sophomore QB struggled with a knee injury for much of the year, but he was still able to throw for 2,625 passing yards, 29 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
Military Bowl Presented By Northrop Grumman: Air Force vs. Toledo on December 28th at 4:30p.m. EST
Watching Air Force is a trip back in time. This team runs the wishbone option, and they run it well. They finished second in the nation in rushing at 320.3 rushing yards per game.
While the passing game has taken over for a reason, and fans love the aerial assault, it is fun to get a glimpse of an attack you just don't get to see anymore.
They will be playing a Toledo team that was 89th in points allowed, but actually did a decent job of stopping the run. The Rockets are allowing just 3.86 yards per carry.
That sets up for a good battle of strengths and an entertaining game.
