2011 Bowl Games: 5 Matchups That Have Upset Written All over Them
Now that the full lineup of bowl games has been released, 70 teams around the nation now know where they are heading this bowl season.
After taking a look at the 35 different matchups around the nation, a lot of teams seem to be matched up well and have given college football fans plenty of great games to watch.
While a lot of these games could be great, some seem to be a slam dunk one way or the other, but watch out because these are five games that have upset written all over them.
Alamo Bowl: Baylor vs Washington
1 of 5Coming into this game, Baylor seems like it will be the overwhelming favorite. Robert Griffin III will spend the time in between now and the bowl hearing about how great of a year he had, and the Huskies will spend the same time hearing about how they failed to take a step forward.
Last year the Huskies found a way to step up in a big way and defeat Nebraska. Look for them to do the same this year against Baylor.
Cotton Bowl: Kansas State vs Arkansas
2 of 5In most conferences, the Arkansas Razorbacks may have played for the conference title and had an easier route to the BCS. Unfortunately for the Razorbacks they play in the SEC and are the odd team out.
Look for the Razorbacks to come into this bowl game and overlook Kansas State, which has found ways to surprise various teams all year long.
Maaco Bowl: Boise State vs Arizona State
3 of 5When the year began, Boise State had visions of going to a BCS bowl game or even to the national championship.
After a loss midseason to TCU at home, the Broncos had their hopes of going to the national title game derailed, but many didn't believe their BCS dreams were gone as well.
Coming into the Maaco Bowl, the Sun Devils will be playing with nothing to lose and may catch an unmotivated Boise State team off guard.
TicketCity Bowl: Penn State vs Houston
4 of 5Houston was a game away from being BCS bound. After coming out flat against Southern Miss, the Cougars ended up in the TicketCity Bowl against Penn State.
The Cougars have a lot of offensive firepower led by Case Keenum. They should be the favorite, but much like Boise State, they may suffer from a letdown and overlook Penn State.
Insight Bowl: Oklahoma vs Iowa
5 of 5To start the season, Oklahoma was the preseason No. 1 team in the nation, but when they got to the middle of the season, things started to fall apart.
After dropping three games, including a game to rival Oklahoma State, the Sooners head to the Insight Bowl to play Iowa.
While the Sooners' name may get them the tag of the favorite, the offense is sputtering and the Hawkeyes should take advantage of them in this game.
