Tampa Bay Buccaneers: 4 Raheem Morris Replacements To Be Considered for 2012

Ryan AlfieriDec 4, 2011

Boy, have things changed for Raheem Morris in a hurry. Because of the Bucs recent losing streak, reports are starting to come out about how Morris has lost respect of the players (his nickname is "Rah").

If there's no improvement in the Bucs down the stretch, there's a very good chance that Morris could be on his way out. Of course, it's never too early to start speculating about his replacements.

Here are four candidates that should be considered for the job in Tampa Bay.

Rob Ryan

The biggest problems in Tampa lie on the defensive side of the ball, and a defensive guru like Rob Ryan might be just what the doctor ordered, even though Morris is a defensive guy himself.

Ryan's defenses have played well no matter what team he has coached. The fact that his twin brother, Rex Ryan, has enjoyed success in New York only helps his cause.

The issue with Ryan is that he tends to be very outspoken and outrageous, which is not what every owner wants in their head coach. He's bound to say something stupid once in a while, but the bottom line is, Rob Ryan can coach, and it's only a matter of time until someone takes a chance on him.

Bill Cowher

If your team has a discipline problem, you can't do a whole lot better than Cowher. A man with Cowher's pedigree will completely change the culture in Tampa, even if the Bucs' players don't like it.

The real question is whether or not Cowher would want to coach again. The Bucs, with their warm weather, already have a quarterback and some young pieces that just came off a 10-6 season.

Of all of the coaching jobs that open up, this could be among the most attractive.

Jeff Fisher

Fisher brings a lot to the table that Cowher does: a style of hard-nosed football, a winning pedigree and an epic mustache. He just never got his Super Bowl ring.

There's a belief that Fisher wants to get back into coaching next season, and Tampa could be a great fit.

His teams have always had good defenses, and he can probably get more out of this year's Bucs unit than Raheem Morris has so far.

Perry Fewell

Perry had a lot of interviews last year, so he's on the radars of teams looking for coaches. Fewell has done a great job with the Giants so far and has limited experience as the Bills' interim coach in 2009.

A defensive mind, he is mostly a Cover 2 guy but has used more man concepts this year than usual.

Either way, adding him could do a long way in improving the Bucs defense.
