Alabama Football: Players React with Humility and Focus on Task Ahead
Larry Burton (Syndicated Writer) You can't keep college students from their electronic devices for long and despite the fact that Nick Saban tries to discourage their use, tweets and Facebook comments still made their way to the public.
The players heard the news that Alabama had secured their spot in the National Championship Game while at their annual football banquet. The banquet both rewards players for a good season and gives awards to deserving players in various positions and roles they play.
You can see who won those awards by clicking here.
Players' quotes have already started leaking out and they reflect the humility and seriousness that makes this team and these players special:
@UA_Athletics Barrett Jones. “We have a big month ahead of us to get prepared for that game and we have a lot of hard work ahead of us."
RT @AlabamaFTBL: Dont'a Hightower: “We will take the utmost pride in getting this opportunity."
Jalston Fowler: "Thank You Lord."
There's no chest beating, no "I told you so" tweets or anything like that.
Right now, it's about being thankful for the opportunity to finish the season the way they all hoped they could: by walking off the field as National Champions.
From now until kickoff of the 2012 BCS National Championship Game, it's going to be all business.
There's time for celebrating and chest beating later. At least that's how the Alabama team sees it.
