2011 Bowl Schedule: Boise State and 3 Best Teams Playing in December
Even though the best bowl games are in January, there are some pretty good teams playing in December.
Some teams got snubbed, and others just had disappointing seasons. Either way, these teams are all playing their final game of the season in 2011. Here are the three best teams on that list:
TCU (December 21)
After winning the Rose Bowl last year, the Horned Frogs took a little step backwards, as they will be playing in the S.D. County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl. Still, that doesn't mean they will be any less fun to watch.
They finished 18th in the BCS Standings, and they will be forced to play before Christmas. They handed Boise State its only loss of the season, which kept the Broncos out of a BCS Bowl.
Now, the Horned Frogs will put their high-powered offense up against the red-hot Louisiana Tech Bulldogs. It should be a pretty close game, but TCU should end up winning pretty handily.
Boise State (December 22)
Despite finishing the season ranked No. 7 in the BCS standings, Boise State will be left out of the BCS party. In addition, the Broncos were relegated all the way to the first week of bowl games.
Still, they will be out for blood. Kellen Moore and co. think they deserve more than this (which they definitely do), and they will be sure to go out and prove it.
If you like high-powered offenses scoring as often as possible, you'll love Boise State, as it routs Arizona State in the MAACO Las Vegas Bowl.
Baylor (December 29)
Robert Griffin III has made the Heisman race his own. With great performance after great performance, Griffin has been a standout this year, and he hopes to capture the Heisman Trophy next week.
Regardless, he will be playing at the end of the month, against Washington. The Huskies are a solid squad, but they don't have much of a chance to contain Griffin. They better hope to outscore the Bears, but that isn't likely.
Baylor is a good team, and it had a chance to sneak into the BCS. However, with the way things turned out, I think it'll be just fine to conclude their season with a win over Washington in the Alamo Bowl.
