WWE News: Huge Match Possibly Taking Place on Tonight's Monday Night Raw Show
The end of 2011 is almost here, and the WWE needs to close out the year on a high note to build up some momentum for 2012.
The company has definitely done that as of late, with some stellar TV matches on Monday Night Raw, such as Dolph Ziggler vs. CM Punk, Ziggler vs. Randy Orton and Punk vs. Alberto Del Rio. And now it appears as if we could see yet another huge match on tonight’s episode of Raw.

"John Cena vs. Alberto Del Rio vs. CM Punk and a 41-man Battle Royal is being advertised for tomorrow’s (Raw) show.
"
I’m 99 percent sure that Cena vs. Del Rio vs. Punk will be a dark match that takes place after the show, but things could get interesting with this 41-man battle royal.
Back on Oct. 14, the WWE held a 41-man battle royal on SmackDown to determine who would become the No. 1 contender for Mark Henry’s World Heavyweight Championship. Orton went on to win that match and face Henry for the title on another episode of SmackDown.
I could definitely see something similar happening here.
Given that Punk beat Del Rio in a WWE Championship match on last week’s Raw (and assuming Del Rio won’t weasel his way into another one-on-one match for the WWE title), the Straight Edge Superstar is going to need a new No. 1 contender to face at WWE TLC, and I think it would make a lot of sense for that contender to be determined in this 41-man battle royal.
I’m not really a fan of a match that features so many people all in the ring at one time, but holding a big battle royal like this right before the Royal Rumble seems like a good idea to me.
The winner of the match will obviously be the No. 1 contender, and considering that a battle royal is quite similar to the 30-Man Royal Rumble match, it can help that star build up some momentum and be viewed as one of the favorites to actually win Rumble.
All that being said, this is all a moot point if the 41-man battle royal doesn’t take place on TV.
