BCS Rankings: No. 17 Baylor Deserves To Play in a BCS Bowl Game

The No. 17 Baylor Bears awaits its fate with the pressure only mounting. Considering the Top 14 teams in the nation are technically those teams who are eligible for BCS Bowl games, there is heavy uncertainty as to whether the Bears will make it.

Yet at the end of the day this is a team that without question deserves a shot at a BCS Bowl game.

Despite three losses on the season, the 9-3 Baylor Bears lost all three of those games to ranked teams including Kansas State, Texas A&M and Oklahoma State.

All three of those games were also played on the road, as their 2-3 record against ranked teams is all the more deceiving. Not to mention, they went 2-0 against ranked opponents at home after beating both No. 5 Oklahoma and No. 21 Texas.

What makes the two wins all the more significant is the fact that they are also their two most recent games against ranked opponents. This is to say that the Bears are moving on up, as they are a much improved team from the start of this season.

Overall the team has won its last five games, winning their last three games by a whopping 55 points. Those three wins came against Texas Tech, Oklahoma and Texas.

Robert Griffin III has been arguably the best player on this team as of late, throwing for 13 touchdowns in the win streak. Add a couple of 400-yard passing performances to the mix and you have a quarterback that is having his way with opposing defenses as of late.

It is with these recent big-time wins and the play of the offense as whole that scores the sixth-most points in all of college football, that should have the Bears inside the Top 14 and in contention to play in a BCS Bowl game.

This is a team that deserves its chance to shine on a big stage.
