WWE TLC 2011: Power Ranking Every TLC Match in WWE History

Chris HumphreyDec 4, 2011

How do you prefer your Tables, Ladders and Chairs Match destruction? Do you like it in a one-on-one match, or in the madness of the traditional tag team style match?

Since August of 2000, the WWE has given us 11 Tables, Ladders and Chairs matches, with five of those being for the WWE Tag Team titles, along with three matches apiece for the WWE Championship and the World Heavyweight Championship.

With that, you can set up your table, prop up your ladder, pull up a chair and enjoy this slideshow, power ranking every TLC match in the history of the WWE.

11) TLC X, RAW 2010

1 of 11

For the 10th anniversary of the TLC match, WWE Champion the Miz defended his title against WWE Hall of Famer Jerry "The King" Lawler in the main event of the November 29th edition of RAW after cashing in his Money in the Bank contract against Randy Orton the previous week.

10) TLC V, RAW 2006

2 of 11

After a four-year absence from the WWE, the TLC match returned in the first-ever one-on-one contest as champion and TLC veteran Edge defended his WWE Championship against the dirtiest player in the game, 16-time World Champion Ric Flair, on an edition of RAW at the beginning of 2006.

9) TLC IX, TLC 2009

3 of 11

D-Generation X, Triple H and Shawn Michaels faced off with the Big Show and Chris Jericho for the WWE Tag Team Championship in the main event of the very first TLC pay-per-view in December of 2009, the first tag team TLC match in more than seven years in the WWE.

8) TLC IV, RAW 2002

4 of 11

The TLC match made its return after a year-plus-long absence from WWE television, and its first appearance on RAW after a spin of the wheel on this edition of RAW Roulette. The match pitted then-champions Kane and Gregory Helms versus the tag team combinations of Bubba Ray Dudley and Spike Dudley, Christian and Chris Jericho and Jeff Hardy and Rob Van Dam in October of 2002.

7) TLC XI, TLC 2010

5 of 11

In the first TLC match of the Fatal 4 Way variety, Edge found himself in yet another TLC match. This time against Rey Mysterio, Alberto Del Rio and World Heavyweight Champion Kane. Originally, it was only to be between the Rated R Superstar and the Big Red Machine at the second TLC pay-per-view last December.

6) TLC III, Smackdown 2001

6 of 11

If the previous two TLC matches were not crazy enough for the WWE fans, the third TLC match took place on national television for the first time ever on Smackdown, as the three aforementioned teams were joined by then-Tag Team Champions Chris Benoit and Chris Jericho for what has been called the forgotten TLC match over the years.

5) TLC VIII, Summerslam 2009

7 of 11

Unlike Edge, who competed in six of the first seven TLC matches in the WWE, Jeff Hardy, who was a part of the first four TLC matches, made his first appearance in a TLC match in almost seven years, defending his World Heavyweight Championship against challenger CM Punk in the fourth TLC match held in a singles match for either the WWE or World title.

4) TLC VII, One Night Stand 2008

8 of 11

Instead of having a Hell in a Cell or Casket match, which is a specialty of the Dead Man, the Undertaker faced the master of the TLC match, Edge, in a contest to determine a new World Heavyweight Champion after Smackdown GM Vickie Guerrero ordered the Undertaker to vacate the title after he continued the Hell's Gate submission maneuver.

3) TLC VI, Unforgiven 2006

9 of 11

In one of the biggest home-field advantages at a WWE event, Edge defended his WWE Championship against John Cena at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Canada. Edge frequently said in the buildup to the event that he hadn't lost a TLC match in his career.

This was a bit of a goof by Edge and/or the writers of the WWE, as Edge did lose a TLC match in his career during the TLC III match on Smackdown for the WWE Tag Team Championship, when Benoit and Jericho retained during that show.

2) TLC II, WrestleMania 17

10 of 11

After the classic first TLC match at SummerSlam the previous fall, the only place that could hold TLC II between the Dudleys, the Hardys and Edge and Christian would be the granddaddy of them all, WrestleMania. The event was broadcast from the historic Houston Astrodome in Houston, Texas in April of 2002.

1) TLC I, Summerslam 2000

11 of 11

Even though there has been 10 more TLC matches since the first one in 2000, you still can't beat the classic encounter between the Dudley Boyz, Edge and Christian and the Hardy Boyz. With the WWE Tag Team Championship on the line, this SummerSlam took place in Raleigh, North Carolina,  the Hardys' backyard.
