Kyle Orton Injury: Update on Kansas City Chief Star's Finger Injury

Patrick ClarkeDec 4, 2011

Kansas City Chiefs' QB Kyle Orton injured his index finger on his first pass of Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field.

Orton was picked up off waivers after being released by the Denver Broncos earlier this season. He entered the game for one play and was injured in no time.

Odds are this news won't harm many fantasy contenders out there as the playoffs near.

Orton had been a free agent for a while before Kansas City picked him up a couple weeks ago, and Tyler Palko has been Kansas City's starter since Matt Cassel went down.

Devastation Scale (1-10)

Orton is new to the team and has yet to make his mark at all. Getting injured on the first pass doesn't bode well for his impact in 2011, but it is hardly the deciding blow to the Chiefs already disappointing season.

Timeline for Return

Orton is questionable to return after dislocating his index finger while attempting his first pass as a Chief this season.

What They're Saying

Experts around the league and those closely following the action in Chicago are saying that it's a dislocated piggy for Orton and that he is questionable to return given the severity and the fact that Palko was the starter coming into the game anyway.
