LaDainian Tomlinson Injury: Update on New York Jets Star's Knee Injury

Donald WoodDec 4, 2011

Good news: The New York Jets just got their star running back in the lineup after missing two games with a knee injury. Bad news: He is out with a knee injury again.

The former NFL star and current mediocre running back LaDainian Tomlinson has been injury-plagued, to say the least, in his time with the New York Jets. Things don’t appear to be changing.

Fantasy Impact

With Shonn Greene nursing a rib injury, Tomlinson was slated to take the bulk of the carries. Now that LT is out, it’s up to Greene to play through the pain or give some carries to Joe McKnight.

Who's the Backup?

This will mean Greene finally gets the full workload that he needs to be effective. The New York Jets can keep pounding Green ahead and wear down the defense. While it hasn’t been very effective this season, they have to make do with what they have.

Devastation Scale (4 out of 10)

This is a big deal because the Jets do miss Tomlinson’s pass-catching and pass-blocking abilities, as well as his running talent. While they can replace his production in the run game with  Greene, they can’t block for Mark Sanchez or bail him out like they could with LT there.
