Report: Mack Brown to Be Forced out as Texas Longhorns Head Coach

The Texas Longhorns just finished their second straight disappointing season, though at least this one will end with a bowl appearance. This is a school that is not used to mediocrity, which is why it is no surprise that there is a report Mack Brown will be forced out as head coach. 

It is important to keep in mind that the report has not yet been confirmed, it is just what Brooks is hearing right now. 

Still, would it really surprise anyone if the move does end up being announced within the next 48 hours?

After making it to the BCS Championship Game in 2009, Brown has led the Longhorns to a 12-12 record the last two seasons, including a 6-11 mark in the Big 12. 

This is not the first time that there has been speculation about Brown's future at Texas. Just last year, there was talk of him walking away, but because the team had performed so poorly he wanted to return to go out on a high note. 

Since he led the school to a National Championship in 2006 and had just lost Colt McCoy to the NFL, the school was happy to grant him one more year. It came at the expense of coach-in-waiting Will Muschamp, who took the head coaching job at Florida. 

Now, it appears as if Brown's time has run out. He is always going to be a revered figure in Austin because of what he was able to do there, but you can't have two average seasons, at best, and hope to keep your job. 

That might sound harsh, but it is the reality of the situation in college sports today. 

Again, this is just a report for now, so we will have to keep our eyes and ears open to see what the wind brings from the Lone Star State regarding Brown's future.
