Titans vs. Bills: 4 Key Halftime Stats for the Bills

The story of this game so far has been the running backs—and they both happen to wear number 28. C.J. Spiller has shown flashes of brilliance in the first half of this contest, punctuated by head-slap-inducing moments of frustration.  

Spiller has become a favorite target of Ryan Fitzpatrick in the absence of Fred Jackson, and for the most part today, he's answered the call.  If he hangs onto the football, he should be able to match his counterpart Chris Johnson and lead the Bills to victory.  

The biggest momentum swing in this game occurred when a monster C.J. Spiller touchdown run was called back due to a holding penalty.  

The Bills lost 41 yards on the play, and their drive subsequently stalled when they failed to convert a fourth and three.  Suddenly, a back-and-forth game tipped in favor of the Titans.

As this game remains close, this one play could prove the difference.  In the second half, Buffalo must avoid costly penalties if they want a positive outcome.  

Just when the Bills looked like they were finished, Fitzpatrick managed a 71-yard drive that culminated in a field goal.

Now, obviously, Buffalo would have preferred to score a touchdown here, but at this point in the game—heck, at this point in the season—every single score is absolutely crucial.  

More to the point, the Bills proved on this drive that they have what it takes to move the ball against the tenacious Tennessee defense.  More of the same kind of clock management will put Buffalo in the driver's seat.

The amount of points Buffalo must make up in the second half.

A string of sub-par performances have put the Bills on the wrong end of blowouts in recent weeks.  In comparison, a seven-point deficit at home is more than manageable.  

The tide seems to be slowly turning back towards Buffalo.  If they can get a quick score coming out of the locker room to even the score, the Bills will have enough momentum to win this game.
