Tim Tebow vs. Christian Ponder: Vikings Rookie Will Be Better Than Broncos QB

Anticipation, accuracy, offensive system and commitment are the four main reasons Christian Ponder will be a better quarterback than Tim Tebow.

Coming out of college, Ponder was seen as a legitimate quarterback prospect. He carried either a first or second round grade from most of the NFL franchises.The only reason he would have been graded lower would be because of injury concerns.

Ponder has a good feel for the quarterback position. He trusts his targets and anticipates their routes.

His ability to throw his receivers open helps him effectively move the offense. It also allows him to quickly get rid of the football and avoid sacks.

Anticipation isn't something that can be learned, it is an instinctual trait.

NFL quarterbacks need to have good accuracy and ball placement. Football is a game of inches, and the location of a pass can mean the difference between a first down or punt.

Ponder puts the ball out in front of his target, allowing them to gain yards after the catch.

The Denver Broncos are running an unorthodox offensive system to fit the skills of Tim Tebow, but the system is not allowing Tebow to progress as a passer.

He needs to have the opportunity to develop, not to be enabled. Denver's offensive system enables Tebow's poor habits.

Ponder is in a system that both plays to his strengths and allows him to develop. This will benefit Ponder in the long run, as it prepares him for future success. Tebow is moving further away from becoming an effective passer.

Tim Tebow has the support of the fanbase and his teammates. But he isn't fully supported by the front office.

They refuse to give Tebow a vote of confidence, which has many questioning their commitment to him.

To this point, Tebow has been able to overcome the lack of belief, but it will eventually start to take its toll.

The Minnesota Vikings are committed to Ponder as their quarterback of the future. They will make all of their personnel decisions to build around the strengths of Ponder.

I am really surprised by the way Denver is winning football games. Tebow seems to be able to will his team to success.

It is enjoyable to watch someone play with such passion, but how long can this last?

Can he go his whole career winning games based on desire and effort? I would like for Tebow to find sustained success, but I don't think it is possible.
