2011 Bowl Projections: Electrifying Teams That Will Dazzle Us in Non-BCS Bowls
People can't wait for the National Championship and the BCS bowl games are sure to be spectacular, but you would be crazy to pass on the chance to see some of the most talented teams in the nation go at it in non-BCS bowls.
Some of the most exciting teams in the nation didn't manage to crack BCS bowls this year, but not to worry. They'll still put on a show in whatever bowl they land in.
Here are a few electrifying teams you don't want to miss in non-BCS bowls.
Houston
If you think one disappointing loss against Southern Miss in the Conference USA championship is going to keep Case Keenum and Houston from resurrecting their air show in their bowl game, you're kidding yourself.
The video-game numbers weren't there against Southern Miss, but that doesn't mean they've completely lost their mojo.
Being in a bowl like the TicketCity Bowl is a huge step down from the Sugar Bowl, but they are sure to make the most of their situation by reminding everyone that they've got an offense that puts up over 50 PPG.
Georgia Tech
Anybody who has seen Georgia Tech's offense in action knows just how exhilarating it is. They've suffered four losses, but their triple-option offense is tough for any defense to handle.
The Yellow Jackets took it to Clemson and is a threat against any opponent they face. The Sun Bowl isn't typically one that commands a lot of attention, but when Georgia Tech's offense gets going, those who chose to pass it up will be sorry they did.
You never know what you are going to get when Georgia Tech takes the field. Some will put a negative spin on that, but it makes every game they're in worth watching.
Baylor
It's not every day you get to see a Heisman Trophy contender in a non-BCS bowl, but we'll get that chance this year. Robert Griffin III is the most exciting player in the country and Baylor has shown the ability to take down some of the most talented teams in the country.
With wins over TCU, Oklahoma and Texas, the Bears are a team nobody wants to face. They have three losses on the road this season, but they are far and away the best three-loss team in the nation.
All of a sudden, the Cotton Bowl becomes more exciting than Sugar Bowl and the Orange Bowl.
