Ahmad Bradshaw Injury: Giants Ground Game Will Be Awful with or Without Star RB

Alex KayDec 4, 2011

Ahmad Bradshaw is doing everything in his power to return from a debilitating foot injury in time for the New York Giants game against the Green Bay Packers today.

Unfortunately for his fantasy owners and fans of the G-Men, it won’t matter if he plays or not because he isn’t going to produce at a high level.

The Giants RB is listed as questionable on the official injury report but did practice this week for the first time in over a month. The team is hoping that he is able to bolster their ground game that was atrocious with Brandon Jacobs starting.

It won’t happen because his team will be playing from behind all day long against Aaron Rodgers’ prolific offense.

Last week on Monday Night Football, the Saints took advantage of the weak New York secondary and Drew Brees torched them for 363 yards and four touchdowns through the air. Rodgers is going to have an even better day against these guys.

Green Bay is undefeated and steamrolling their opponents with their passing attack and there is no way that the Giants take them away from that game plan and force them to run. This won’t be a grind-it-out type contest and there will be a very small number of snaps for running backs to make a difference on.

A hobbled Bradshaw with limited touches isn’t going to burn a group that is only giving up 105.5 yards per game and allowed just seven touchdowns so far this season on the ground.

Their best bet of winning is letting Eli Manning test a secondary that gives up 287.8 yards per game, second-worst in the league. They will need quick scores to play catch-up against the Pack and throwing the ball without turning it over is the one way they are beatable.

I’d recommend leaving Bradshaw on your bench this week, regardless if he plays, and using a replacement. This matchup is awful and he won’t make an impact.
