Week 13 Start 'Em, Sit 'Em: Matthew Stafford Will Rebound in a Big Way

Ryan RudnanskyDec 4, 2011

Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford had a rough go against the defending champion Green Bay Packers in Week 12, but Week 13 will be a different story.

Stafford has proven he's equipped to be a franchise quarterback in the NFL, throwing for over 3,000 yards and 26 touchdowns to 13 interceptions this season.

And there's nothing to be ashamed of when struggling against the Packers.

Here's your Start 'Em, Sit 'Em for Week 13.

Start 'Em: Matthew Stafford, QB, Detroit Lions

Stafford threw three interceptions in the Lions' tough 27-15 defeat to the Packers in Week 12.

But he also threw for 335 yards and five touchdowns against the Carolina Panthers in Week 11.

The verdict?

Why, play the matchups, as always.

Stafford faces the New Orleans Saints in Week 13, who have given up the ninth-most fantasy points to quarterbacks this season, in part because teams always have to throw after Drew Brees and Co. rack up points early.

Expect Stafford to have a big game.

Sit 'Em: Mark Sanchez, QB, New York Jets

This should go without saying, given the ongoing struggles of Sanchez, but he did drop 22 fantasy points against the Buffalo Bills in Week 12, so some may feel like he's on a roll.

The reality is, the Bills have a horrid defense, giving up the seventh-most fantasy points to quarterback this season.

Sanchez faces the Washington Redskins in Week 13, who will prove to be a tougher challenge. The Redskins are giving up the ninth-fewest fantasy points to quarterback this season.

Sanchez isn't the type of quarterback who generally matches up well against good pass defenses.
