Rock vs. Miz: Only at WrestleMania 29 Can They Help Each Other Shine Bright!
The Rock: a legendary and iconic superstar with nothing left to prove after an illustrious career. The Miz; a superstar waiting to one day take his place among the immortals as a legend. If I know my wrestling history, and I think I do, these two men are destined to meet one-on-one in what could be one of the biggest matches of all time. Did someone say WrestleMania 29?
I know, I know, we haven't even made it to WrestleMania 28 yet, so why think about WrestleMania 29 so soon? Well, why not? A lot could happen between now and then. Rock may decide to wind his career down and retire for good from the business or he may decide to become a special attraction and limit his appearances.

You better believe that if the right movie role came along and he had to make a choice, it would be the movie role. I hate to say it, but Rock isn't exactly 25 years old anymore either. He is approaching his forties, and although forty is hardly what I consider to be old, it isn't the age for you to decide to come back and have a full time wrestling career.
As it is, we barely see enough of the legend as he continues to pursue his other interests. It makes you question just how important his business interests as well as the fans are to him. After everything he has accomplished throughout his career, he dosen't need to sacrifice his body anymore.
I'm sure that this and a lot more has run through Vince McMahon's mind, too. There is a dearth of talent in the company right now. Along with John Cena, The Rock is his saving grace but for how long? He will do everything he can to capitalize on Rock's association with the company as long as he can.
He will also want to give Rock the closure he needs to properly end his career when the time comes. What better than to have a match with The Miz at WrestleMania 29?
The Miz is a talented workhorse that everybody has taken notice of lately; his stock has risen because he is on his way to the top. He became relevant again by becoming a member of Awesome Truth, forming an alliance with R-Truth. Together, they were successful in getting a match in the main event at The Survivor Series against Rock and Cena.
He also happened to look good that night and held his own. I was there that night in the Garden and this young superstar managed to do the one thing even Cena couldn't do: get props from the New York City fans in attendance. He has also crossed over to the mainstream like Rock, making various appearances on talk shows.
Once again he is being viewed as a hot property. Vince sees money when he looks at this guy because he is money. He is also young and can carry the company when the time comes. If anyone can thrive at a WrestleMania and keep up with The Rock, it's certainly The Miz.
Oh, by the way did I forget to mention that he is a former WWE Champion. Unfortunately, I think it’s easy to forget that he held the title for a significant period of time because of how he was booked. When the biggest threat to your title is a legend that performs once in a while, title or not, you are not getting off to a good start as champion.
It also didn't help that he became an afterthought as the fans focused on The Rock Cena rivalry hoping to see those two square off in perhaps the biggest match of all time. Well, we’re past all of that now. We’ve got that match. More importantly than that, Miz is on his way back to the main event scene.
Miz is bound to become champion for a second or third time down the road. Keeping that in mind, he will need a defining moment to help make him a more credible champion and to build his legacy on. There has to be a Mick Foley to his Triple H, a Brett Hart to his Shawn Michaels.
A series of definitive victories over CM Punk or John Cena would be nice, but how about someone who qualifies as a legend? Someone who could elevate Miz with one match, win or lose. Enter The Rock. How about on the grandest stage of all, you know, an event called WrestleMania? Enter WrestleMania 29.
WrestleMania is where legendary moments happen. The biggest event of the year, it's almost expected to produce one or two classics that end up becoming "WrestleMania Moments." If you make it there, you can make it anywhere. It is the stuff that legends are made of. What better place for The Rock vs.The Miz?
Both Rock and Miz are the epitome of what professional wrestling has evolved into—sports entertainment. Each has become synonymous with the different eras that defined them. The Rock is a product of the Attitude Era, an era that changed the way we defined what a hero is and question the morality of the time.
Meanwhile the argument can be made that The Miz is a product of the PG Era, an era held under constant scrutiny for failing to live up to the promise of its predecessor.
There are many differences between them, but there are also similarities. Both had to re-invent themselves in order to achieve success. They both know what it is like to headline at WrestleMania. They’re both former champions with varying degrees of success under their belts.
The argument can be made that they are from the same mold. The Rock represents the past and the present whereas Miz represents the present and the future. Besides, The Miz owes Rock big time for overshadowing him leading up to WrestleMania 27 earlier this year. That in itself is a jumping off point for their rivalry.
Bottom line, it's only a matter of time before they meet each other one on one. Don't have their first match take place on Raw or at minor pay-per-view. Have it take place where it will shine, in the way it deserves to shine. WrestleMania 29, anyone?
