Big 10 Championship Game Time: When Does Wisconsin vs. Michigan State Kickoff?

Justin WeltonDec 3, 2011

The Wisconsin Badgers and Michigan State Spartans will engage in their second showdown of the season on Saturday night in the Big 10 Championship game.

Their first game was epic: Kirk Cousins' Hail Mary pass sealed Michigan State's 37-31 victory in the final seconds of the game.

Saturday night will be completely different. The Rose Bowl is up for grabs and both teams will bring their absolute best.

Wisconsin (10-2, 6-2 Big 10) lost back-to-back games in the middle of the season but have been great before and after. Montee Ball has 29 rushing touchdowns on the season, and Russell Wilson is proving to be a steal from NC State.

The Badgers have the fourth best defense in terms of points allowed (15.2) in college football. Their offense is also fourth in points scored (44). Wisconsin is a great all-around team, and I believe we will see their best.

Michigan State (10-2, 7-1 Big 10) has won eight of their past nine games. They are looking to prove that the first outcome wasn’t a fluke.

They have the sixth best defense in terms of points (15.4) in college football.

It will be an absolute war on Saturday night. Here are a few things you need to know about Saturday's game:

Where: Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis, Indiana

When: Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011 at 8:17 p.m. EST

Watch: FOX Sports

Wisconsin Player to Watch: Russell Wilson

With all the attention that Ray Ball is receiving, and rightfully so, Wilson will receive a glorious opportunity to take his team to the Rose Bowl to play Oregon.

Wilson has been the perfect fit for Wisconsin. He has come over from NC State and put on several quality performances. He has 33 combined touchdowns to just three interceptions.

He has been the real deal.

Ball will be able to be a workhorse, but Wisconsin will need a better performance from Russell than they received last time against the Spartans. Two of his three interceptions came against Michigan State in their loss.

Wilson supplants his name into the Heisman conversation with his great performance.

Michigan State Player to Watch: Kirk Cousins

Cousins played one of the best games of his career against Wisconsin in their first meeting. He went 22-31 for 290 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions.

It will be difficult to duplicate those numbers, but the most important statistic will be turnovers. If he can keep a clean slate, Michigan State will be in the game.

Prediction: Wisconsin wins 31-30

Michigan State needed everything in their first meeting to get by Wisconsin. It should be a fantastic contest, but I don’t believe Michigan State will get as lucky this time.
