Cotto vs. Margarito 2: Why Margarito Will Wish Fight Was Canceled

Kyle VassaloDec 3, 2011

It's only going to take a couple of rounds for Antonio Margarito to wish that his wounded eye forced his rematch with Miguel Cotto to be cancelled.

The fight was in limbo because the status of Margarito's eye was called into question. It's back on now, and unfortunately for Margarito, it's not going to take long to make his eye become a serious factor in this fight.

Cotto will undoubtedly target Margarito's bad eye. Opening up that eye and exposing his opponents will make this fight a quick one.

Margarito is stepping into the ring with his sight set on repairing his tarnished image and proving that his entire boxing career hasn't been a complete sham.

He got the better of Cotto the first time they squared off, but did tainted plaster of paris wraps help him pull off the victory?

While the outcome of this fight may not give us a definitive answer to that question, a lopsided victory will suggest that it was cheating that gave Margarito the upper hand in what should have been a one-sided affair.

An even playing field and a busted eye will make for a long night for Margarito. The only thing worse than being a cheater with a busted eye is being a cheating loser with a busted eye.

The early knockout is going to make Margarito look back and smile upon the times when this fight wasn't given the green light.
