NFL Week 13 Picks: Favorites That Will Easily Cover

Michael DixonDec 3, 2011

By this point of the season, games are much more predictable. Sure, there will always be upsets, but some games are pretty predictable.

These teams are all favored to win this weekend. Most importantly, they will all win their games. If anything, they aren't getting enough credit from the odds makers. Don't be sucked into the underdog trap in these ones.

New York Jets (-3) at Washington Redskins

The Jets are far from an offensive juggernaut, but their defense is still one of the best units in the game. On the other hand, Washington's offense is one of the least imposing units in the NFL

New York won't score a lot of points, but they won't need to in this one. Three points is not what you would call a particularly huge spread. On the road, it doesn't look good, but this isn't one to worry a lot about.

The Jets defense will do more than enough to get this win. They will shorten the field, and the Jets offense will handle the rest.

Prediction: Jets 20, Redskins 7

Dallas Cowboys (-4.5) at Arizona Cardinals

The Cardinals have heated up a little bit in recent weeks, winning three of their last four games. Still, it's hard to overlook the fact that the Cowboys are also on a hot streak. If that's not enough for you, just realize that the Cowboys are the better team.

Arizona simply doesn't have the weapons on defense to stand up to the Cowboys and all of the weapons they have. And while the Cardinals have Larry Fitzgerald, their offense won't be anywhere near good enough.

This may not be a full-fledged blowout, but 4.5 points isn't that big of a spread and certainly not a blowout. The Cowboys will take this one easily.

Prediction: Cowboys 34, Cardinals 21

We rarely see these kind of spreads in the NFL. But as hard as it is to believe, this is not a big enough number. The Colts defense is nothing short of abysmal. It's hard to imagine them doing anything to stop the Patriots, whose offense is heating up.

On the other side of the ball, the Colts have no offense. Yes, they have a few playmakers who are capable of getting loose, but that won't get them anywhere near the Patriots.

Lastly, as the Patriots have shown in the past, they don't exactly let up when they get a big lead. This one will be ugly.

Prediction: Patriots 45, Colts 7
