Charles Haley: Lewd Conduct Accusation Tarnishes Legacy as a Dallas Cowboy

Donald WoodDec 3, 2011

NFL legend Charles Haley may have gotten himself in some serious hot water. The former star linebacker is being accused of slapping a woman on the buttocks in a suggestive manner.

While this doesn’t seem like much to many people, this is the 21st century. Everyone has the same rights, and Haley had no right to do what he has been accused of.

These accusations come from the Thanksgiving game in which Dallas hosted the Miami Dolphins. With these reports happening at Jerry Jones' facility, he will be getting heat.

Jerry Jones doesn’t want heat on him. Certainly not for this.

Even worse is that the report states that the female who reported the incident works at Cowboys Stadium. Now the story is getting close enough to Jones that he may be looking to punish Haley in some way.

We can’t forget that it was just a month ago that the Dallas Cowboys inducted Haley into their Ring of Honor. That is the kind of honor that Jones may want to reconsider if the allegations are found to be true.

While the five championships are the first thing you think of when talking about Haley, this has the possibility of tarnishing all the great things he did over his career.

Haley obviously got lucky with winning all those championships, but he had to work hard to help his teams win it all. Falling into a good situation isn’t bad either.

With an already inflated memory of him because of the titles, fans will remember him for his solid but not outstanding play and, if found guilty, his lack of class and decency.
