SEC Championship 2011 Predictions: LSU Will Blast Georgia in Epic SEC Showdown

LSU can possibly earn a spot in the BCS National Championship game even if they lose to Georgia in the SEC Championship game at 4 p.m. EST on Saturday.

With little to play for, Les Miles and the Tigers will make one more statement in 2011—the best team in college football this year resides in Baton Rouge. If you don’t know, you will after they blast Georgia.

The Bulldogs are a solid club in 2011, with two hiccups on their schedule. Both of their mistakes (Boise State and South Carolina) came at the beginning of the season against great teams.

I’m sure they will be able to hold their own for a while against LSU because of their stingy defense and productive offense. Georgia is 10^th in points allowed, and their offense is tallying north of 420 yards per game.

However, the best team in college football will prove it when the fourth quarter comes around. LSU will be able to slow down Aaron Murray and the Bulldogs passing attack because of their No. 2 overall defense.

Georgia hasn’t defeated one quality team in the SEC this season. Their victories have come against the likes of Mississippi, Tennessee, Kentucky, Florida, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt and Auburn.

They didn’t have to play Arkansas, LSU or Alabama this season.

LSU, on the other hand, defeated three top 10 teams on the season including Alabama and Arkansas. They also defeated Oregon on a neutral field by 13 points.

The Tigers have clearly played and defeated the tougher teams and I think that it will translate extremely well into the championship game.

With as much love the SEC receives for their quality of competition, the SEC title tilts have lacked tremendously throughout the years.

Last season, Auburn defeated South Carolina 56-17 in the championship game. 2010 brought a 32-13 Alabama victory over Florida. 2009 brought a 31-20 victory for Florida over Alabama.

This double-digit margin of victory has been a theme, for the most part, in recent SEC Championship game history. 12 of the past 13 SEC Championship games have been won by double figures.

I think we are in for another double-digit game on Saturday.
