Fantasy Football: NFL Week 13 Sleepers

Ryan LesterDec 3, 2011

Sometimes you need a fantasy gem to be successful. Here is a list of LestersLegends’ under-the-radar players that could possibly pull out a win for you in Week 13.

Matt Hasselbeck
@ Buffalo

He’s not a sleeper per se, but he has averaged just 167.7 passing yards the past three games with two touchdowns and four interceptions. The Bills rank 22nd against the pass (243.6 ypg) and tied for 30th with 21 passing touchdowns allowed. Plus, they let Mark Sanchez throw four TDs against them last week. In deeper leagues, Dan Orvlovsky is facing the Patriots and will likely have to pass a lot.

Roy Helu vs. New York Jets

It’s crazy riding the Shanahan train, but Helu has topped 140 total yards in two of the past four games. The Jets rank 16th against the run (114.1 ypg), but are one of ten teams to have allowed double-digit rushing scores. With Washington’s receivers struggling to get open, it could be a heavy dose of Helu and Fred Davis. In deeper leagues, Marion Barber has been solid six of the past eight games. The Chiefs rank 26th against the run (133.7 ypg) and have also allowed ten rushing scores.

Brad Smith vs. Tennessee

Smith is getting the start opposite of Stevie Johnson with David Nelson working the slot. Smith has caught seven passes in the past two weeks, including four for 77 yards and a score last week. He’s also a threat to run the ball and take a return to the house. Nelson is a solid option as well given his red zone prowess. Johnny Knox vs. Kansas City has seven catches the past two games for 242 yards.

Tony Scheffler @ New Orleans

If he doesn’t get in the end zone, you’re likely getting fewer than three fantasy points (non-PPR). He’s scored in three of the past four games, though.

San Diego Defense/Special Teams @ Jacksonville

Not only does Jacksonville score less than any other team (12.5 ppg), but they have a rookie QB that has yet to show improvement, and they fired their coach this week. It’s as good a time as any for the Chargers to end their six-game losing streak.
