NBA Rumors: Nick Young and Chicago Bulls Are a Perfect Match

Nicholas GossDec 3, 2011

Nick Young is a restricted free agent and the Chicago Bulls must make an offer to the Washington Wizards shooting guard to really improve their team for another deep run in the playoffs.

According to Yahoo Sports, the Bulls are interested in Young:

"

The Bulls are desperate for a scoring guard, and they have expressed interest in Young, along with Denver and New Orleans, front office sources said.

It's no secret the Bulls need a shooting guard who can take some of the scoring burden off of reigning NBA MVP Derrick Rose.

Young is an explosive scorer that can add a new dimension to the Bulls offense. He's quick, good off the dribble and he has good shooting range.

Young averaged 17.4 points per game last season, and at age 26 he has yet to hit the prime of his career.

One impressive part of last season for Young was his improvement in scoring over 2009-10. Last year, he rose his scoring average by 8.8 points per game and proved he was a consistent scorer.

Young won't be the defensive star that Denver Nuggets restricted free agent Aaron Afflalo could be for the Bulls, but head coach Tom Thibodeau has a reputation for developing his guys into good defensive players when they weren't before.

Young's scoring will really help Chicago beat teams like the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference. In two games for the Wizards against the Heat last season, he scored 30 and 38 points.

The Bulls need a young scorer who can take over games with his offense, even against top teams, and Young can fill that role for Chicago.

There are many shooting guards this free agency period that the Bulls could consider signing, but Nick Young is the best fit for them going forward.
