11 of the WWE's Best Managers from the Attitude Era to Today

David LevinDec 9, 2011

They are a rare breed.

Take the "Montreal Screw Job" and add "The Attitude Era" and then coat it with "Austin 3:16" and then show off your best "DX" and what you have is one best time frames of wrestling we have ever seen.

And then, to make things even better, take "Cena Sucks" and add to that "The Brothers of Destruction" and stir in a little of "Stratusfaction" and you have another era in wrestling that is unsurpassed.

Along the way, we have also seen some great managers from the past 14 years who have become just as important as the wrestlers they managed along the way.

And even today, we are still seeing managers take a prominent role in the development of characters and subplots.

For this time frame, these are 11 of the best managers in the WWE.

Chyna

1 of 11

As body guard or enforcer or manager, or whatever she was, Chyna was the most intimidating of ringside acts.

She could wrestle, beat the hell out of opponents and keep the peace outside the ring.

And when she felt like it, she could jump in the ring and challenge for the Intercontinental Title.

Vickie Guerrero

She has set the bar for the "PG Era" in the WWE.

The former general manager has taken her talents ringside and now has a stable of Dolph Ziggler, who is on the verge of being the next WWE Champion, and Jack Swagger, who has become somewhat of a jobber as of late.

With the talent the "Cougar" is holding on to, it could only be a matter of time before she upgrades and adds to her talent pool.

Paul Heyman

All I have to say is BROCK LESNAR.

Heyman was instrumental in the rise in success of the next big thing.

Lesnar was a beast, and Heyman knew he would rule the WWE from early on in his career.

Heyman has a way of developing talent and making things pay off.

Stacy Keibler

I am not sure if was truly their manager, but seeing Stacy Keibler come to the ring with The Dudleys made watching WWE a lot easier.

She was the beauty to Devon and Buh Buh Ray's Beast. And truly a distraction for opponents in the ring.

Got wood?

Marlena

SMOKING!!!

Terri Runnels, who was married at one time to Dustin Runnels, formed a great partnership when Goldust made his appearance in the WWF.

Smoking hot and sexy as hell, she was just as important in making one of the best gimmicks ever in the WWF work.

Yellow glitz and glamour and high-tech imaging. It all worked. And the fact she was the apple of every man's eye in the seats of every arena in the WWF did not hurt, either.

Vince McMahon

The head of the WWF formed "The Corporation," headed by WWE Champion The Rock, to stop or halt other factions from trying to take over the WWF (Degeneration X).

The Corporation also involved Ken Shamrock and the Big Boss Man in McMahon's stable.

Malena

Oh my!

As the manager of Johnny Nitro (John Morrison), Melina just oozed sex appeal. Nitro, who later became John Morrison, showed off his wares as well.

Both were great in-ring performers.

And as a real-life couple, they played the angle to the hilt.

Paul Bearer

8 of 11

Maybe the best manager in the WWF/WWE of all time next to Lou Albano.

Bearer just played the role so well and had Kane and the Undertaker at odds in one of the best storylines ever in wrestling.

The fact Bearer could come out of the woodwork right now and play the role and everyone would buy into it proves what a great commodity he is to the company.

Could he be part of the the resurrection of Kane?

Sable

9 of 11

The manager of then-real-life husband Marc Mero.

She was smoking hot and still is.

He toiled with mid-card status and at one point, Mero defeated Faarooq Asad in the finals of a tournament for the vacant Intercontinental Championship.

While injuries hurt Mero in his wrestling career, wrestling in fact helped Sable become an even bigger international star.

Trish Stratus

10 of 11

How about a little "Stratusfaction?"

Trish Stratus made her entrance into the WWF with the tag team of Test and Albert.

While we all wanted a little "T & A," we were thinking more of the bombshell Stratus was.

And when she gave up managing to get into the ring herself, we thanked the good Lord above.

Sunny

11 of 11

As the manager of the Body Donnas, Sunny did more than just guide Skip and Zip to WWE tag team fame.

Sunny was the desire of every man and the hatred of every woman. She was the most stunning thing in the WWF since Sable, and she knew it.

The WWF had a real find when they signed her to help ratings with the company.
