TNA: New Rivalries Are Going to Help Impact Wrestling Move Forward in 2012

David LevinDec 4, 2011

Now that TNA is in the home stretch of the 2011 wrestling year, the company and Impact need to concentrate on new rivalries.

In the past few weeks, things have gotten off to a decent start.

Turning Point was nothing to get excited about, and with Final Destination upcoming, there is a need for the company to finish strong and on a high note, so the 2012 year can begin with a bang!

Here is a little about what I am talking about.

The trinity of Jeff Hardy, AJ Styles and Bobby Roode has some real steam to it, but I do not see Roode dropping the strap to either one of them any time soon. I see there being a holding pattern until James Storm comes back, only problem is that Kurt Angle is now in the mix and what happens when Storm comes back and Angle becomes his nemesis? Does the Storm/Roode angle lose its appeal?

I am not a fan of Hardy and his sudden feud with Jeff Jarrett but maybe it is a means to an end and we will see less of Jarrett in 2012. Hopefully, we will also see a lot less of Eric Bischoff and Ric Flair, but that is for another column.

I liked the idea of Rob Van Dam challenging for the Television Title, but can we get a clean win from someone with out Rob Terry or Christopher Daniels being involved? It is really a shame because Robbie E can actually sell and Van Dam is a great competitor who should get a strap. But then again, others are just as deserving.

Gunner needs a new hobby instead of chasing down Bischoff's son and the Abyss/Bully Ray angle has some merit if it can work.

Now that Chris Masters has told everyone he has gotten a new gig in TNA, where would he stand in the company and does he have a role as a face or heel?

Like I said, it's a start. It needs more firepower to move forward. And while we have a good tag team in Crimson/Matt Morgan holding the titles, why not turn Pope and Devon heel so there is some heat from both sides? Or, why not pair Masters with Samoa Joe to challenge the two towers?

And is it just me or could Kid Kash and Austin Aries be a really go rivalry if it is written correctly?

All these questions and not enough answers.

All in due time.
