Georgia vs. LSU: Larry's Losers and SEC Championship Pick
Well, sports folks, it was a crazy season in the SEC this year. Houston Nutt is gone, and he's one of the reasons we fell to 81-15 this year.
We barely hung on to a B with an 81 percent accuracy rating, our lowest since starting this column five years ago.
Other teams that kept me buffaloed this season were Auburn and Tennessee.
Maybe the SEC championship and bowl picks will get our average back up a little, but it's sure to be a low point in prognosticating pigskin picks for this poor pooch and me.
Now's the time to pass out the congrats to the teams that made it a bowl season.
No team deserves a higher five than Vanderbilt. Those crazy Commodores made it back to bowl eligibility in just one year under new head coach James Franklin.
Also from the East were Florida, just scraping by by the thick skin on their alligator backs, South Carolina and East champions Georgia.
From the West, Mississippi State and Auburn just slid in under the crack in the door while Arkansas, Alabama and West champs LSU looked strong.
What does it say to the country to have an all SEC-BCS National Championship Game?
It means other conferences no longer have an argument where the real power in sports lies. Bacardi says if people still want to argue about it after this, they can lift his tail and kiss his grits.
Next week, we'll be putting in the bowl picks, but this week there's only one game that matters.
Georgia versus LSU in Atlanta
Though it's not exactly a home game, Mark's Mutts feel like they're in home territory and intend on defending the honor of the Bulldogs down to the last pup in this contest.
These football flea bed fidos are getting sick of hearing how they won the SEC East while other teams were all in down years. They want to show the country they can stand paw-to-paw with those Cajun Kitties for four quarters.
Les Miles better be careful what he eats, because these Bulldogs have been marking their territory.
But the Mad Hatter has his eyes on a bigger prize this season and intends to bump the Bulldogs off the turf in a manner befitting a team about to play in another national championship.
Georgia may have had a hot hand lately, but the Tigers are gonna cool those paws quickly and convincingly and put these pups in the pound.
Larry's Loser—Georgia
With the season drawing to a close oh too quickly, let me remind you—it's not about how much your team could have done this season as much as what they did do that matters.
