Eagles vs. Seahawks: Ugly Loss Must Not Cost Andy Reid His Job
Right now, things don't look good for the Eagles. By extension, they don't look good for Coach Andy Reid. But is what we're seeing right now really Reid's fault.
Well, like anyone involved with the team, he holds some blame. But taking some blame is not the same as falling on the sword and getting fired. That just shouldn't happen.
Last night was just a microcosm of the Eagles' season. When they needed it, they couldn't do anything to stop the run. When the Eagles were driving to stay in the game, they made critical turnovers.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Reid has nothing to do with the defense. The Eagles have an inept group of linebackers that haven't been able to figure out how to do anything against opposing running backs.
It's too easy to run in the NFL. Very little goes wrong when a quarterback is handing the ball to a running back. When those backs have no problem earning first drives and eventually scoring on their own, there's no point in passing the ball an awful lot.
But it doesn't stop there. What about that dream secondary of Nnamdi Asomugha, Asante Samuel and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie? This is a secondary that should make passing the ball impossible.
But look at how Tarvaris Jackson did against that secondary on Thursday.
| Completions/Attempts | Yards | Touchdown | Interceptions |
| 13/16 | 190 | 1 | 0 |
Other than the completion percentage, that's not an overwhelming line. But Tarvaris Jackson is hardly an elite quarterback. That secondary needs to do much better than that. That's not on Reid.
Defensive coaches and players need to go. Defensively, this team is inept. Offensively, the punch is there, but they make bad mistakes at the worst moments.
As a random example, I highly doubt that Reid had anything to do with Ronnie Brown throwing the ball on the goal line against the 49ers. If I am wrong, then Reid needed to be fired on spot.
But again, last night was just a reflection of what we've seen from the Eagles all season. They have a lot of talent, but don't play good football.
Some of that falls on the coach, there's no denying that. It's also easier to fire one coach than an entire team. But given what Reid has done with teams that aren't as talented in the past, he's earned the benefit of the doubt for this season. He and Philadelphia front office need to get together, evaluate who needs to say and go and come back next year with a full training camp. If Reid can't do anything with that team, then he needs to go.
Until then, he takes some blame, but not all and not enough to be fired. Last night's fiasco against the Seahawks did nothing to change that.
