Chris Paul Trade Rumors: Why Hornets Star to Orlando Magic Is Ideal Scenario
In all the talk of Dwight Howard getting traded away from the Magic, here's a thought that doesn't get a lot of conversation. Knowing that Chris Paul wants to play with Dwight Howard, why not trade for Paul?
The exact specifics aren't really important here. There would be some kind of trade possible with the principles being Chris Paul coming to the Magic and Jameer Nelson and other players, perhaps JJ Redick and draft choices, going to the Hornets.
What would that leave the Magic with? Chris Paul to feed the ball to Dwight Howard? Essentially. Isn't that enough? Ryan Anderson really started to develop as the power forward last year. Hedo Turkoglu can still sink the three.
Depending on whether Reddic was involved in trade, it would be a bit of a mystery who the shooting guard would be, but knowing the Magic, it would be someone who could shoot the three.
Chris Paul, with the exception of Derrick Rose and perhaps Steve Nash, is the best penetrating point guard in the league. He's the best passing guard in the league apart from no one. Adding Paul to the Magic would make for the trifecta of offense: someone who could score from the perimeter, the post or drive the ball inside.
Chris Paul could easily make the Magic one of the more (if not the most) dynamic offenses in the league.
Additionally on defense, the help that Paul could bring would be immense. While Dwight Howard is the best post defender in the league without question, the Magic still struggle with perimeter defense. When it comes to that, Paul is one of the best in the league.
There are some concerns with his size in that most opponents can shoot over him. However, the Magic would easily take that over everyone and their brother getting inside to get off shots in the paint, particularly Dwight Howard, who seems to have become the entire Magic defense in recent years.
