Did LeBron James Allow Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul a Pass from the Media?
LeBron James is the most followed person in sports. His every move is criticized and every word analyzed. He can only thank "The Decision" for his scorned image.
James has been the target of much vitriol after leaving his former Cleveland Cavaliers for the sandy beaches of Miami. Most people contended that James wasn't loyal and should not have spurned his fans in that manner.
Whether you agree with James' decision, you must acknowledge it altered the NBA's landscape forever. Players now seem more likely to chase their friends rather than chasing money. More than likely those friends are going to be pretty good basketball players as well.
Last year Carmelo Anthony forced a team that adored him to trade him to the team of his choice. Chris Paul stands in line this year waiting for the same opportunity. He will eventually leave New Orleans this season and no one will dare critique him.
Why is it that Anthony and Paul get a pass? LeBron James. The world would rather expend all of its hatred on the NBA's best player rather than be consistent in criticizing all those who are not loyal or force a team's hand.
The Nuggets drafted Anthony. They loved him.
The Hornets know they will never again see a player of Paul's stature.
These players have made back-room decisions with their friends just as James did and no one calls them out on it. It is unfair to continue to harass LeBron but give Anthony and Paul a pass.
Come on people, let's be fair.
