Week 13 Fantasy Rankings: QBs Ready to Blow Up Stat Sheet

Richard LangfordDec 3, 2011

Matt Hasselbeck is going to be a surprise fantasy star this week. He has a favorable matchup against the Bills and he will take advantage of their weak pass defense.

That finds Hasselbeck on the list of top-performing QBs in Week 13 with a couple of usual suspects.

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers

Opponent: New York Giants

Rodgers has been a lock for this list all year. His opponent hasn't mattered. He has carved up defenses without prejudice this season.

This week, he just happens to be playing a horrible pass defense. The Giants are 26th in the NFL in passing yards allowed per game. They are coming off an especially putrid performance against the Saints this past Monday night.

Brees threw for 363 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions. The Giants must now try to regroup on a short week and perform better against an equally prolific passer.

The Giants don't defend any position particularly well in the passing game, but what bodes especially horrible for the Giants in this one is that they are ranked 27th in stopping receivers that are not No. 1 or 2 on their respective team.

Rodgers loves to spread the ball around, and he has a receiving corps that goes four deep.

Prediction: 334 yards, 3 TDs, 0 INTs

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady

The only thing slowing Brady down in this game is that the Patriots will have such a big lead in the fourth quarter that he will be on the bench, or handing the ball off.

The Colts are no match for the Patriots. Indianapolis is 18th in passing yards allowed per game, but that is more attributable to fact that teams aren't throwing on them because they have the lead than the fact that the Colts might actually be playing close to decent D against the pass.

Indianapolis is 31st in yards allowed per attempt, and Football Outsiders ranks them dead last in their overall pass defense rankings.

Making things even better for Brady's outlook is the fact that the Colts are 25th in passing TDs allowed.

Brady will throw for as many yards and TDs as the game situation allows.

Prediction: 304 yards, 3 TDs, 0 INTs

Tennessee Titans QB Matt Hasselbeck

Opponent: Buffalo Bills

Hasselbeck is ready to have his best game of the season. And he is having a solid season. He has thrown for 2,517 yards, 15 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

Those numbers will get a big boost this week as he faces a Bills team that is coming apart at the seams.

Buffalo has been bad all season on pass defense, and they are getting worse.

The Bills are 31st on the season allowing 1.9 touchdown passes per game. Over their last three, they have raised the awful bar by allowing 3.3 touchdown passes per game.

They are 26th this year allowing 7.4 yards per pass attempt.

What is really going to help Hasselbeck in this one is that the Bills lack a pass rush. They are 31st in the NFL in sack percentage. Tennessee has done an excellent job protecting Hasselbeck this season. They are second in the league in sacks allowed percentage.

That means Hasselbeck is going to have all the time he needs to pick apart this defense.

Prediction: 275 yards, 4 TDs, 1 INT
